Creating Scenario Map, Need Help!

Hey, I've been working on a Scenario map and i have some pretty cool ideas but this is harder that i first thought.

Can someone assist me with this?

1. I'm trying to change diplomacy and gold tongue to give higher bonuses but when i copy the archetype in my map and alter it, the tooltips doesnt reflect These changes. Is it not possible or do i have to do more than just changing the values? the tooltip says "Additional %stat1.norm higher chance that neutral armies offer to join the hero", what is %stat1.norm? and what if i want to add a reduced cold cost as well? should i just write it in the tooltip and get rid of %stat1.norm?

2. I'm trying to Change the meta Magic skill aracane channeling, so it procs on the healing sisters heal instead of the Little pyramid attack because i want to create a haven hero with it, is it possible? idk how how do it /: i tried playing around with the Archetyp of the skill but i didnt achieve anything

I have more Problems but These are my most obvious ones so far, i hope someone can help

%stat1.norm is the numeric value of the skill converted into a string (i.e: text). If you only changed the value it should work fine, perhaps you added it in another slot. So stat1 means slot 1, stat2 means slot 2 and so on. You can also write it directly into the tool-tip and don't use the variable in the string, or just add %stat2.norm and it should work.

Arcane channeling procs on "Do attack" trigger, so it won't proc for sisters, unless you change the trigger.

can also someone tell me how to add custom hereos to the heropedia? or is it already explained somewhere? i dont want to hardpatch em I only want a Scenario map with my own hereos, i can create These but i dont know how to add em to the heropedia, I've seen it is possible as i own a editable copy of the bloody bay map but i cant figure out how it was done, every time i try it i just end up with the heropedia of the hero i copied the archetype off or i break the link to heropedia in the Inventar screen

I haven't reached heropedia editing yet but I think it is doable but you will have to create/edit archetype for heropedia. I saw textures that hold the image but there must be also some container for text/bio of the hero/unit.

I will try to figure it out or maybe LizzardWarrior will be faster and he already have it in Trashcan mod

EDIT 1): OK, here are some observations on the BloodOnTheBay map by Marzhin: Heroes custom bios

First, copy random hero bio archetype to your package (same name as your map).
Secondly, edit it as you want (hint: "/n" will do ENTER on the text so you can start on new row, same as <br> in HTML).
Thirdly, open your custom hero arhcetype, find Properties > HeroBio Data and use the green arrow to link your modified bio (must be selected in content browser).

EDIT 2): OK, here is the Gold Tongued ability and how to play with groups: Skills groups

Look at the picture. Each skill/buff can have changing numbers (aka variables) in the tooltip text that will reflect realtime values of the skill. For this you have to use "%nameX" (eg: %statX.norm, %buffX, etc) BUT you have to keep an eye on the "Group" number (here represented by X).

If you have %stat1.norm then you have to change Group = 1. If you have Group = 0 then you can use just %stat.norm (as you can see on the picture). So either delete the "1" in the "%stat1.norm" or change "Group" to "1". Groups are for every effect, so watch out the numbers to not get lost easily

Yeah, my tutorial is kinda outdated, it doesn't show how to add completely new creatures without replacing it (hint: still h7config.upk), neither new heroes, new skills, making new abilities, changing cameras, adding lore entries, making separate dwellings on the adventure map, making new buildings in town. So much stuff to show

I've been trying to get arcane channeling work on the healing sisters the past hour but it seems, just changing the activation trigger from unit: on attack to unit: use ability at any speficic creature (combat), isnt enough to achieve it, maybe it is not possible without further coding? Im really not sure about that

Hmm... let me try it first, then if I succeed I will tell you how to do it.

Let me ask you some questions first:
- did you modify both ability and buffs? (there are 3 archetypes for arcane channeling, 2 buffs and 1 ability)
- did you "insert" the new ability into the new metamagic skill you use for your map?
- if you made another skill, are you sure you gave that to your hero and not regular metamagic?

that is really awesome of u ^^

edit: i think i now know what u mean, i forgot to to make a copy of metamagic as well and insert it in my hero, same for changed ability in new metamagic skill,  i did this now, but it still doesnt work /: was able to Change diplomacy and Gold tongue bc of that tough (: yay

- i tried to modify all 3 yes, but i am  not totallysure what every one of these does do, since it didnt work i tried to modify just the one that says "activate on unit attack" as trigger, i really gave up on it after a while, also im native german, so i dont understand everything written in the files, maybe i did some stupid mistake

- insert the new ability? i dont undestand, sry, all i did was copy and paste the 3 archetypes and changed the variables for the sisters as good as i was able to, f.e the i changed Little pyramid Progression with sister Progression as it is an ability check in the skill...

- ? i just changed the 3 archetypes and gave my hero metamagic as master skill, i didnt Change anything about the skill like Icons or names, or effects yet

i've tried that, but it is not working for me. i've used Ymoril as achetype for my hero and when i try that and start the map i get neither the Picture of my hero with her skills in the heropedia nor is Ymorils text replaced. So it seems to be more difficult that that.

on "Marzins" map, i've noticed his Heros are also in the hero custom tool u can use on easy mode, so it seems he Kind of created These, but u cant enter a bio, nor add a custom Picture with this tool...

See, this is the problem, you just copied the archetypes but didn't use them. It won't work if you simply put them in the package, they must be referenced by something that is used. For example, the 2 buff archetypes must be used by the ability archetype, while the ability archetype must be used by the metamagic skill. By simply giving your hero the original metamagic skill, the original arcane channeling ability will be used and of course it won't work. What you got to do is either modify metamagic or create a new metamagic skill which will use your archetypes instead.

i've tried that but i can't get it to work, it would be really cool if u could make it work and tell how u dit it also cannot add new heropedia yet, so I've to do in on another way somehow

Hey, just a quick uptade. U can get ure own heropedia entries by creating hereos with the build in hero tool, that is the only easy way. Then u can alter em in unreal mode. (:

Liz, any uptade on that arcane channeling on healing sisters?

btw, is it not possible to start dialogues with Standard Units, only with heroes? seems like it, if there is a way give me a hint

also why cant i set "talk to npc orna" as trigger to start Dialogs? if i click on her nothing happens...

and is there a way to get rid of the bubbles of neutral Units u pos on the map as neutrals, best i can achieve is to chieck em as npc hereos and neutral, so they cant be attacked or traded like Caravans but These talk bubbles dont look good, especially since they dont do anything? just for the sake ob being there as deco? if i already cant talk to them?

Tip: all units (not only heroes) can act as NPCs, just set NPC = True. And those bubbles are triggered by Talks = True.

Adding custom creatures to Heropedia WITHOUT touching the core game files (H7Config & friends):

1) Switch to Unreal editor mode.

2) Go to: View > World Properties

3) Expand: World Info > My Map Info > Map Pools > Custom Creatures to show in Heropedia.

4) Click on green "+" for each creature you want to add.

5) Open centent browser and select your custom creature archetype.

6) Back in World Info and click on the green arrow "<-" to link it.

7) Play your map and use the "!" to show Heropedia page of your custom creature.

Tip: same can be done with all custom heroes and factions.
