Over Uber

What do you think of Uber? Out here, a lot of taxists are battling these guys.

I do not support what these people are doing to Uber. However, there are certain talks about how Uber is working illegally. And now Uber is planning on having driverless cars. This makes me think that our local taxi drivers are worth fighting for (even if they aren't worth much).

So, how are others doing with Uber in other countries?

Uber here also has some problems with taxists. However, taxis have poor services, whilst Uber is cheaper and much better (treatment, air conditioning, prices, politeness etc.). What I think is that, if taxists want to stay around, they should at least stop being sloppy and treat their customers better, being more responsible while driving, have better and cleaner cars, not talking about other people's lives with scorn, not beating people down, better prices (for this matter, politicians would have to lower taxes so their could have more competitive prices). I'm sure that they have their history, their life, family, but as many jobs around the world suffer, they must try and be competitive for today's standards, and customers shouldn't be forced to choose an appalling service only because someone forgot to keep evolving. Taxists should also consider that having competition might be good after a while. A way to refine their own services, if they have the will for it.

I never really thought about it, but I've never been in a taxi before. Lol!

I don't know how it is in other countries, but in the US, the number of taxi drivers is kept artificially low through a medallion system (you have to get a medallion to drive a taxi, which can be very expensive), and customers and would-be drivers suffer as a result.
As far as the service itself goes (so, not talking about its internal practices), Uber is great and I use it quite frequently. It's much more convenient than a taxi, and frequently cheaper.

i considered signing up to be an uber driver myself. only one small problem: i don't like cigarette smoke. or vapists. or people who chew tobacco. or people who talk loudly. or chew with their mouths open. or strangers. or human beings in general. unless they're hot chicks who are dtf. and most of those won't use uber, because "all men are rapists".

I considered becoming an Uber driver except there would probably be a fatality in under a week.

No Uber round these parts, government made sure of that, but I prefer highly regulated and controlled taxis to random dudes in snowty cars. Taxis are clean, can be summoned over the phone or via Internet, and the drivers HAVE TO BE highly competent nonsmokers who are forbidden to take a call during the trip.
