I think Gamescom is the last big event this year in which we can expect any M&M announcements (which is highly unlikely, but still). I think originally Europe is a market a little bit more interested in strategy games and many "local" developers might and will have something to show. I'm expecting something out from Paradox (mainly AoW: Planetfall), maybe 1C (new Kings Bounty game?) and couple more. Of course I wouldn't mind some more announcements like Age of Empires IV or new/old TBS IP's...

I sure would like Sandro to achieve his goal of killing a dragon god and possibly set Ashan out of existance, so everyone in the world of Ashan would be free, free to follow his own destiny and join or create another world !
The only part of Homm6 that miss the shot is the reputation system, it force you to have a specific behavior and to stick to offesive improvements for blood and defensive improvements for tears when it comes to the devlopment of your characters characteristics...
...the rewards are at best unsatisfactory, the reputation system should only influence the story and be purely ideologic, not influence the gameplay !

Age of Empires IV was already announced.
As for the rest...
You dont really need to destroy Ashan, just set it aside. There are many planes in the original M&M universe, many time periods, you can evenn make a game before the Reckoning if you wanted to.
It was really insane how that extreme amount of lore was just set aside for some generic dragon-god fantasy...

I think we should really give a chance to Sandro to prove his theories, to kill a dragon god, free every single beeing on Ashan from the autocratic rule of the dragon gods, give to this universe a proper exit and finally make the link/crossover with the original universe of the ancients !
Besides, I have been in contact lately with Paul Anthony Romero, and he have no clue about a possible HOMM8...

A crossover would only contaminate the old universe Really, why would anyone go there? Pick a diverse universe and stay with it. Ashan has made sure to put a biography and lore behind every pebble which is at odds with the previous universe. Creature lore is different but the creative direction even more so. If they brought the old universe back, it would be subject to ubi's new direction. That would also compromise Ashan's fantasy only policy unless the old universe's technology was retconned.
I have a better idea.
Sandro succeeds, Ashan gets destroyed. The end. Everyone happy
Better yet, ubi doesn't touch the series ever again. But wouldn't that be a long shot.

Did he now? Because last time I checked, he outright refused Ubisoft to work on the franchise when they made an offer. Not to mention how little he seemed to care about M&M even before that. So I'm actually not quite sure how he "proved" anything of the sort, but do you know what'll really do it? Wasn't Ubisoft hiring a senior brand manager or something? Someone with extensive knowledge about M&M and all that jazz? Well what do you know, if this ain't his golden opportunity.

It's a catch 22 situation isn't it. Ubi cannot be trusted to not screw it up, JVC has long given up the series and ubi is unlikely to sell the rights to someone else. Not that it's a hot property to buy after its persistent butchering.

you could just do what they did with the spiderman movies: have a different actor, with a different story, and pretend it's the original spiderman for each series of movies.
as long as ubi doesn't do spiderman anymore...
imo, only fans of homm3(above all the others, except maybe homm2) can get it right.

Do you have a link? Because I asked him through a CQ interview last year and his reply was like "fans will need to convince Ubi for that to happen".

To compliment what Stevie says, JVC is more into race cars than into the world of M&M... plus he is more of an upper management type of guy. The gameplay flow and easthetics of the game don't depend on him, each has their specific designers. He just directs way from above with an eye on the prize.

JVC working for Bioware doesn't mean he can't work for Ubisoft, especially if you consider that EA give to its studios a status making them almost independant (since the debacle of both Origin and Bullfrog) !
JVC is eager to get back to Might and Magic and he can talk about his dreams, but making it happen is more delicate... just like the australian producer Jonathan M. Shiff (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_M._Shiff) who want to make movies from his series but hardly find anyone to finance it...

I wopudn't sday "long ago", Heroes VII was not THAT long ago and if that would have succedeed (unlikely given low budget and almost total lack of supīport) there would have been an Heroes 8.

He did design the first three Heroes, the MM RPGs, as well as Creature Quest. There is lead designers to follow but the main concept and design comes from him, unless you can prove otherwise.
