Heroes 7 is not really a game, it's completely broken. The future of heroes is Age of Wonders Only if Quantomas can complete his project...

I believe there is future for Heroes and I even expect some good news in 2018. There is no way Ubi will leave this game and let it die. They will either make Heroes 8 themselves or sell the franchise. They might sell it for 1 million dollars or less, but will sell it if they don't want to work on it. So, there WILL be Heroes 8 at some point. I just don't know when. I hope Ubi have learnt their mistakes and as strange as it may sound - I think they are the most prepared company to make the game now. After so many mistakes, they must have learned their lesson.

If there's one thing I've learned it's that AAA-companies are definetely petty enough to let a franchise rot rather than see another company do something worthwhile with it.

That is perfectly reasonable though. Sometimes not profiting from something beats letting an opponent profit from it.

I just wish that Ubisoft would reflect on homm3 and homm5 and look at how successful they are as a game compared to 6 and 7. I hate how the towns are 2d (not the good 2d/3d from 3) and the awesome 3d from 5. It's a shame they are letting this franchise die off.

Yeah, there will be H8. I asked Paul Romero after the Heroes concert in Poland in October last year (it was a great concert) and he explicitly said "yes there will be Heroes 8". I'm just hoping they keep the dev process to themselves this time. Give the devs plenty of money and time. Opening the polls to fans as they did with H7 was really, really bad.

I thought PAR wasn't doing the music for heroes games anymore? I guess he'd still probably know since they'd most likely ask him just in case he changed his mind. His music will be sorely missed, but the soundtrack from H7 was still good. I feel like I read somewhere on here that team LeBreton was fired, but I can't recall where or if it's true. My sincerest hope is that we get a skill system similar to H5.5 and alternate upgrades again. The alternate units from H4 and H7 were good too but there weren't enough IMO

I am currently thinking in how alternate upgrade should be done, a new idea I got that when you upgrade the building you get two upgrade choices how to upgrade the units.
That restriction is to prevent the player from switching the upgrades. That is for making the player to think ahead what he might need. (Like the alternate units)
Or is that a bad idea?

For now, it seems like Ubi are focusing on the chinese mobile market with MM: Era of Chaos.
Set in Enroth, at least that lesson may have been learned.
I still saw Erwin in a related interview though.
I still recommend Creature Quest again and again, JVC and key members from NWC are behind it, and it feels. Music by King and Romero too.

I would love CQ on PC minus cash shop! My tablet went to the silicon heaven and my phone cant handle it. So I hope they will use money from CQ for something bigger
PS: and no I dont want to simulate tablet on my PC I want proper PC game without premium snow. Just pure JVC/NWC/PAR stuff

Lol, I red: new FLASH game! No more flash games, please
But yeah, that would be something interesting.
Back on topic - I wasnt there when PAR "confirmed" Heroes 8 but I think he is the last person that should give any confirmations. But who knows I have my full respect to Paul so maybe he get an offer for another Heroes soundtrack

That's an interesting option I hadn't thought of before. I have mixed feelings about this; on one hand yeah it does make planning ahead a bit more important, but there was also thing like the skeletons, where the archers were better early game for creeping but it was better to switch to warriors later because shooters become less important and the warriors have better stats and abilities. I guess it all depends on how the upgrades would be balanced.

Call me crazy, but I quite enjoyed Heroes 7, it had lots of potential, and the devs seemed to be quite responsive to fan suggestions (Black Hole? at least). I'm tempted to re-install and give it another shot.
I hope a 8 comes out sometime in the future, there are tons of strategy RPG's on Android and IOS, but I want something on my PC.

Polls are not a bad idea by itself. I mean, polls on which factions are in are fine, lineup polls are a terrible idea. More important still would be random skills or not because the H7 devs had silly notions like 1) we'd rather have a manual skill system like H6 or 2) H5 system was too complicated so it needed dumbing down 3) just throwing abilities in a skill without a tree would be appealing. See, even after all this time ubi remains clueless when it comes to evaluating fan feedback. I'd rather they asked the core things than mess them up by themselves.

Seemed is the key word. They did not actually change the things fans had been raging on for months. Not even things that inexperienced modders could fix in less than a minute.

Thanks for that bit of info from Paul, I suspect he's already working on a new OST if that's the case. I can also agree with you on the fact that letting the community have a say was one of the reasons Heroes 7 failed. Waste of time and resources on a bunch of angry and entitled nerds.

I'm pretty sure Paul Anthony Romero and Rob King made music for all the Heroes titles without exception. I quite like all of their compositions, including that of Heroes 6, less so for Heroes 7 which I believe was a bit less inspired.
As far as Team Erwan goes, there was a rumor that it disbanded based on how Julien Pirou made his leave public (Linkedin I believe) and also from the fact that a different team was behind the short-lived Might & Magic: Showdown, but Erwan le Breton's appearance behind the scenes of the Chinese games suggests that he's still holding a position inside the team, if not still that of Creative Director. Which is honestly reasons for concern if we're to look at the downward spiral the series has taken under him.

I can never in my life get over how H7 did not have Inferno. I was late to the polls, had I been there early, I would've shamelessly rigged/campaigned the f out of it so Inferno stayed on. But don't you see they could've saved the money on the (failed) PR stunt to hire a decent AI programmer, and maybe have some leftover for animation? I bet they would've made better decisions with the factions and lineup. The skill system was bad, but in the face of a snowty AI it doesn't even matter. The gameplay was totally broken no matter what.
Where is Quantomas btw? And how's that Czech Wryn Pendragon game going? I haven't played H6 & H7 in a long time because the game literally crashed all the time.
And I saw some people talking about mobile games here. Here are my thoughts: mobile games are fundamentally different from PC games. They are made for a different market (casual players) for a different purpose (money grab) on vastly more limiting devices (phone/tablet vs PC). Which is why I never play mobile games because they are just not "enough". Nevertheless I checked out Creature Quest and the Chinese Heroes game. Both were kind of letdown. I genuinely hope JVC is only making money off of this to one day return to serious PC games because it felt pretty generic and gimmicky. The graphics were wayyy to cartoony (like pokemon) for me as well, prolly catering to the kids. Then again CIV6 frustrated the snow out of me too because of the new cartoony leaders so maybe it's just me.
Era of Chaos (the Chinese mobile game) retained the art style of Heroes to some extent so it's not too bad to look at, but then again the gameplay felt very streamlined. At the end of the day mobile is just no place for grand strategy games. I'm biased but I honestly think phones are for fruit ninjas or candy crush that sort of things. Heroes belongs to PC.

It's easier to understand a heroes game lacking inferno than lacking dungeon, though I was rather torn myself. One one hand ubi inferno became the default destructive faction with saboteur abilities but we knew they'd copy paste half the H6 lineup.. On the other hand ubi dungeon became the brooding dark elf pretty boy faction but we expected the return of traditional units and the last dungeon was cheap if fun to play.. There was no way this could end well.
But it is unlikely the PR budget which was handled by ubi would go to the devs. Given how shamelessly the shadow council was used as an advertising platform instead of a vehicle for improvement, there was not much hope there either.
