[VCMI Expansion] FiCo

Greeting my friends.. stay awhile and listen



As i told almost secretely on my town post, my bigger plan was put together a tiny expansion, including my faction Ruins. The main focus are new mechanics and heroes. And.. i really like make heroes.

The planned content are 5 big modules: Ruins town; Creatures pack from my personal use. A pack of heroes which depends exclusively from hmm3 core; A pack of heroes which depends from my creatures pack, or Hota pack, or VCMI design team, or another team packs; And for the last plan a minimal artifact pack.

Each pack/module is a standalone mod. Wich makes possible turn of an off. Yet inside each hero module, each class is a indepent mod, possible enabling just some class and disabling another ones.

I made a tumblr to help me show the things and compose the pdf file as @avatar told me to do.

Im not greed and i dont expect any greetings for that project. I gonna use this things, so i thought, maybe could be cool for someone too.

Yeah, there's so much possibilites to create new heroes and new specialties. Of course most of them - from balace point of view - are rather 'campaign' heroes or designed for custom maps. For example - I don't know AI would upgrade humans into werewolves (Lucian specialty) or how these heroes would work when multiplayer be ready. BTW - it will be cool mod with some freshness.

One think I don't like (a little) with your portraits: grey, plain bacgrounds of some heroes. It's H5 style. Some time ago I cutted grey backgrounds from necro H3 heroes and give them various background from 'painted' pictures - final effect was noticeable better. When I return from work, I'll give you some examples.

In case of skills its poor element HIII only 28 and with 3 lvls. Mod with more skills and more levels is needed eg 100 skills x 10 lvls.

Im gonna replacing the solid backgrounds for images if possible or for new portraits. Your examples are welcome. I think i gonna need redo all the pictures in the end. H3 style has some 'dark line blurred', but just after.

About heroes as lucian, erwarth or another ones with upgrades. I think they gonna be 'no specialities' for AI, but thats not a terrible problem i guess.

I would like new secondary abilities, very much. Maybe some with 2 or 4 levels, but i don't like the +10 different secondaries. Deal with the limitation is tatical too.

For now are 26 neutral creatures. 5 my own .defs. More 8 from Ruins. There's 71 heroes posted on tumblr. More 13 already made. Just 1 artifact made, not posted.

The current main goal is 100 heroes, then do the remaining background (Just 37/85 are complete), then refine and rebalance. The creatures im testing sometimes for things like "i liked the model? its cool?". Not much about balance.

On thing to say, its i can make defs from League of Legends champions, thats a solid database, like Spartan:


Of course, theres the town to finish. But i will.

So maybe more towns? To more creatures if you want big expansion.
Yes limit to 8 skills is very good but only 3lvls is bad so 8 x 10 lvls is enough. I dont want so much skills for one hero too. Only if will be a lot to choice.

HV is very very far from HIII rather HI... But if you want  near H3 give realistic countryside as background.
