Kidding, but why not just post the story?
I thought it was cute:
Quote: This is a picture (fully zoomed out) of the Heroes 3: Armageddon’s Blade map I designed, scripted, and constructed for Amy (my now fiancee) to setup the eventual marriage proposal (she loves Heroes of Might and Magic games). It took a few months of working in secret and tirelessly trying to rework the inflexible and archaic Heroes 3 editor. But boy was it worth it. Every blue dot represents a hidden text bubble with cues as well as hidden back story (dripping with romance of course).
I gave her this map to play on Friday and with a little help understanding the relative power of various units from me (She’s a Heroes V and Heroes VI type of girl), she was able to beat it by Sunday around 4:00p. At which point my in game character tells her to accompany him to the Eberwhite woods after the final battle (The Eberwhite woods being down the road from our house IRL). Once we got there, we had a little fun role-playing our characters while scouting about for the most romantic place in the snow frosted woods.
About a third of the way down the trail a magnificent hawk flew out in front of us dramatically perching on a nearby branch. I figured that was as good an opportunity as I was going to get and, crunching snow and frozen ground, got down on one knee. Tears immediately started cascading down her face as I pulled out the ring and stammered out my proposal. She said yes and we hugged and kissed.
That is how Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Armageddon’s Blade helped me propose to my girlfriend of 2 years and made me the luckiest man in the world.
The Might and Magic series and in particular the Heroes franchise has been a part of my life for almost as far back as I can remember. I never thought it would end up playing such an integral role in such an important part of my life. But I can’t imagine this past weekend having gone any other way.
Thank you 3DO and New World Computing (R.I.P.) for bringing this series to the world and thank you Ubisoft and Black Hole entertainment for continuing it.
Too bad zoom in of the picture is no longer available.
