SoD vs HotA vs WoG

I have never tried it any unoffical patch yet but I am willig to download it. So;

1) Are unoffical patches more balanced? Which one is better?

2) Why was Conflux ridiciously nerfed? Yes Conflux had significant advantage but now seems like the weakest town together with Inferno.

3) Is editing unit stats still possible with the same way. I mean just editing CRTRAITS.

If you are interested in multiplayer, its HotA with HD+ hands down (you have to use HD+mod in order to access the extended multiplayer features). It has a fully functioning online lobby with a rating system, the biggest playerbase and simultaneous turns - which is an absolute must have in multiplayer.
And yes, HotA at least is quite a bit more balanced.
As for WoG, it is a much more massive modification, it can be fun in single player I just find it a bit too complicated for my taste.
