Tribute to Strategist Equivalent?

I've been having some trouble playing this game, on the 5.5 mod. No matter what I do, Rush or Creeping, the AI will always have more level/spells/troops than me. I'm specifically playing on the ARMG maps with the lowest difficulty possible on casual setting (no rush discount, normal difficulty, medium monsters etc.). Even then, the AI will always beat me. Currently I'm playing on Haven and will go through every other faction because I want to learn everything about the game. Am I really that bad or I'm missing something from the game? Compared to H3 it's so easy to lose units and keep going strong.

What I'm looking for is anything that gives a great in depth strategy guide similar to the one in H3. Or videos like TheKnownWorld which helped me a LOT play H3 better. I just want to have fun not being destroyed by cheating AI

There are many ways to play a faction but fast levelling and creeping can get you a long way. Usually the best ways to do that are summoning, destructive or warmachines. Try a warmachine hero and things will start falling into place. Level up ballista/tent, then get logistics(then enlightenment if possible), pick gold from chests and try to have castle with tier 7 by end of week 2. With a quick progress and three tier 7 on early week 3 you'll be plenty powerful. You may have to skip something like rakshasas for academy or treants for sylvan and then there's necro whose tier 7 is but an afterthought.

I rush straight to Cavaliers (Then Paladins with their speed 8). But Archangels is something I'd consider for later game given their price to upgrade dwelling. Angels alone are pretty weak IMO compared to a big Cavalier power stack.

Yes I almost always pick gold from chests.

I also skip Footmen and pick Griffins (later Imperial) because of their power to tank and to destroy archers.

Can you also explain why pick Summon and/or Destruction magic instead of Light or Dark? I didn't play much to know their full potential.

I pick Luck (see my avatar) due to magic resist and potentially more damage. Because when I had a fight with an AI he'd constantly resist spells and kill way more units because of it.

Summon/destructive are obvious choices for creeping, just not for haven. They require a lot of spellpower and mana when the knight normally uses warmachines or depends on marksmen with divine guidance/empathy/retribution.

If you mention paladins you are talking past midgame. I am talking week 1-3 creeping where I normally hit lvl 15-20 with other factions. I'm not a haven-focused player but Dougal and Vittorio should serve you well if you want to improve your earlygame.

Vittorio for some reason doesn't appear on my heroes list to select. I can on the original scenario with him but on an ARMG he's not there. Also damn, that's fast leveling. I can not get to that point so fast (I got to lvl 8-10 on week 3-4. What fights do you take to make it easy? What monster strength did you pick?

Normal strength, ToH maps. You can find links to the FAQ sticky thread, I think I've posted some of my recommendations there. Ubi maps are poor in every sense of the word and I have no feedback on RMG though I'm pretty sure that its maps are not balanced.

Not sure how I can help with the creeping, warmachinists are like playing easy mode: Let the ballista shoot and revive lost units with tent. You may not survive all battles unscathed(esp vs casters) so you'll need some hands on experience on how much you can push your luck.
