So to sum up:

OP wants new Heroes for free, easily moddable, but based primarily on his favourite installment because he knows best and it's his idea dammit.

OP has absolutely no idea how to bring this about

Profit?

Last time I've checked people were allowed to express their opinions (even if they're only gibberish to others) freely,

Reminds me Plato: "wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something."

You don't have to put a smiley at the end. Your feelings towards me have been pretty obvious from several posts prior to this.

Also, I agree with what Plato has said, but I have my own theory, as well, which is... your own dreams are only true to your own self, to all others are just gibberish...

I may not be Plato, but I sure as hell am not stupid, despite of what I may sound like to some folks around this forum.

These being said, don't worry, I',m not holding grudges against any of you, as I've received similar treatment even from my own family for many decades, so it's not news to me that people consider me unrealistic and wacky... at least when it comes to thinking WAY out of the box of what everyone is used to.

Cheers!

I think what people are trying to say is: deeds, not words

I know what they are saying, and I agree with them because I'm a man of deeds myself. I don't like cheap talking, so deeds is all I've got

But like I said, I'm giving myself 10 years to make something groundbreaking... OK, make it 12 years (until 2030) to round it up

Until then, however... I think we should all focus on living our lives. Waiting 12 years for something that might not come is neither fun, or productive.

Yeah totally agree about the dragons part 'cause there are just so much existing mythological creatures. It's pretty easy to make up a themed units roster.

I remember listing mythological creatures in several documents for a potential HoMM fan-game (that was never developed) and I discovered a lot of awesome creatures. You can easily make 20 factions without having to put "[color] Dragon" to gain slots.

I feel weird about point #2. I certainly agree that the engine should easily produce both a 4X and a micro-intensive strategy game, but the mechanics are so different that making it just a mod would have a lot of random cruft in at least one of the two games.

For example, I could imagine a mod of H3 that eliminates hex combat in favor of some formula that automates combat based on hero and army stats, and adds a lot of 4X elements. But then some desirable 4X features are really hard to graft on top of H3, like tech tree elements that take N days to research in a town for large and variable N as in Civ. You can also forget about Civ-style tile-level resource management in anything coming out of an H3 mod.

In the other direction, is there a Civ mod with satisfactory tactical combat? Are we sure that's not just Shogun: Total War? Civ is not designed around large unit stacks, so trying to scale it to have multi-uni armies would get awkward.

If you want something between the tactics-oriented mechanics of Heroes and the 4X of Civ, there's Endless Legend (by the studio that made H6 if I'm not mistaken), but that's tellingly something made from scratch, very different on the details from both Civ and Heroes.

uhh that already exists within the base game and all others Heroes games thereafter. It's called "quick combat".

In any case, Heroes is defined by some core elements.

One of those elements is having both an adventure map or a battle map.

Without that element, it woudn't feel like an Heroes game. Just like what happened when Heroes 6 eliminated town screens. Not a popular decision as it goes against the core game design principles.

At most, you could do a more dynamic "quick combat" optional effect like a mini-model battle with whole-army HP gauges.
