@Kip:
They are of course very similar, just like two types of apples are very similar to each other. Red bananas have a slightly sweeter and softer texture than the yellow variety. But yes, they both have the same quintessential banana taste.
Did you pick some up lately? They aren't always easy to find.

we had some written off(as in their appearance is bad so no one buys them, but they're still safe to eat) at work for the employee cafeteria. We get them once every couple of months here, but they don't go fast, since regular yellow bananas are cheaper and people still fight over them as if it still was the USSR, when exotic fruits were brought over on very special ocassions for the non-politburo to buy(most often around Christmas time). That and people here are somewhat unsure and conservative when it comes to buying "new" fruits and food items in general. because why try something new, when you still have that black currant jam you made back in 2010?
Pomegranates are my to go exotic fruit.
Come to think of it, we do get a lot of exotic fruit at work, because like I said, people are afraid to try out new things. Last week it was fresh figs and papayas.
And now since the horrible(as in they're disgustingly sour, and 90% of the time the bottom fruits are squashed and covered in a thick layer of mold) spanish citrus season is over, it's horrible peach and apricot season as of now. idiots can't get passed them without damaging them in some way. You know how it goes with the plum/peach type fruits, you can't be rough with them or they'll start to rot right away from the slightest damage.

Unfortunately, black currant cultivation in North America (a looong while back) led to wiping out many acres of a certain valuable tree, and to this day it has never caught on in the States. I've enjoyed black currant juice before but that is it. It's impossible to find any black currant products in any regular store.

one of the more popular berry bushes to grow in gardens here. I have around 20+ of them, mixed in with some red ones as well. I only eat them fresh and in rather small amount, since it's not my favourite, but it sure sells fast when their season hits, so it's a good reason to keep them growing.

This is only available in the US but apparently the taste is bluffing. I didn't try it but if I had the occasion I guess I would, just out of curiosity.
Although what I like in vegan food is not the imitations but various meals with ingredients I didn't know exist.

This here is a picture from one of my local Burgeries:
They make incredibly tasty burgers: with bacon even in the meat itself and using the "smash" method. But they didn't forget about vegans, as you can see with those tasty-looking tofu cutlets

Burgers are one of the most versatile foods for variety and flavor, but I don't know how you're suppose to fit some of them in your mouth.
Nothing wrong with the classic, but the best burger I ever remember having was goat meat with a blue cheese spread and pickled vegetables, washed down with generous amounts of alcohol. It was godly but I would have needed to dislocate my jaw to fit it inside my hole.
