For a number of reasons. I wasn't attracted to her. I don't have the time or patience for a relationship right now. Also opposed to one night stands. I considered the mature thing to do was to shut her down instead of playing with her feelings.

That seems completely fair for both of you, knowing your standards. Perhaps explaining that you wouldn't want to play with her feelings would make her even more interested, for the thoughful display of kindness and spirit, in spite of the situation itself. So, I guess being blunt might have been better on an overview, in my humble opinion. She might have been disappointed, but will move on eventually.
