Ha, I knew them

Frightful presence has the drawback that it causes the unit to act first regardless of initiative sadly. Would otherwise love to include it in my mod.

It looks like it's deterministic and independent of stack size of both sides. That makes it a no-no. I wonder if it's configurable...

Well isn't in H5 an ability that just kills one creature and is also independent of stack sizes?

I mean we already had an ability that works independent of stack size.

Plus the ghost dodge was also like that, wasn't it?

H5 has all kinds, that doesn't clarify what happens with the specific one. When I used it, it seemed random enough and hardly guaranteed but I didn't test much. The good thing is, when it appears during battle it does not make the unit act any faster so it might be worth using with summons or gained at specific bloodrage levels. Untamed cyclopes would be epic with that.

I didn't test it either. I may have misinterpreted what you said along with the video, which seemed to show it trigger all the time.

What I trake for this ability is that it triggers a flat rate, say, 30% of the time the creature is attacked the attack is nullified and the enemy runs away instead.

This would be independent of stack sizes or health pool so it makes the encounters more random.

H5 already has other abilities like this, tho, like the ghost's Dodge.

H3 and H4 by comparison don't have any ability like this.

Personally I would prefer such abilities don't exist except maybe in campaign for "wow" factor, but they aren't balanced in PvP combat since they can randomize the results too much.

What did you mean by this then?


If you give it to say ghost dragons that have 11 init, they will be the first unit to act in combat regardless of how high init the other units have.

Crystal Scale and very likely Frightful Presence as well were planned to belong to the Original Crystal Dragon which is a Neutral unit that was removed from the game,

So I take it that these abilities can be used in the normal game even now?  What ability references do we use on the units in order to incorporate them?
