Most of the warheads (UK ones at least) cannot even be fitted to modern delivery systems lol, and **** knows if they are even still functional (I believe Trident is mostly fine, but that's why our Gov is so adamant in keepin it, without it we're stuck with the old junk). I think I came across a random Jstor journal while I was doing security studies (nuclear disarmament was not part of my research but I read into the next entry out of interest, that is where I got this from).
Not that it matters much, nukes or no it is dumb af, even if we got nuked you'd have to be a monster to do the same to millions of people, while I get the logic and can see the sense in it. However, it is a moot point, no sane and reasonable Western leader would do it, thus the Nuclear deterrent is void. I think the only person who would have is maybe John Foster Dallas (but the more I researched him the more it seemed that his gun-ho attitude was just a successful facade, actually I am certain of it). So yeah.
