Not true. Only the surface gets scorched. And there can be a partial retcon that not everything was destroyed so badly.

In fact, even after the swords clashed it was that millions could escape to the new world.

Not to mention that the entire conflict that caused the Reckoning is basically completely up to the imagination. The only bits of it ever seen in-game are Tarnum's POV of the very end in HC 8 and the Reckoning itself in the H4 opening cutscene. I'd love to have an entire game focusing on the buildup of the Reckoning ending with a Rampart campaign where you play as Gelu and get to watch his mind deteriorate all the way up until the final battle.

yes. insteresting perspective. We can still visit the original HOMM world without even the need for retconning, with games that fill in the gaps in the lore. Or even what happened before Heroes I
