Evenmorn Campaign tips
Hey guys,
Out of all Hota campaigns, Evenmorn is the only map which I haven't found a "winning" strategy.
I replayed the map plenty times and I have only managed to beat it 3-4 times. I hate to say it, but I rely too much on luck on this one to beat it on impossible.
So I was wondering, is there some kind of a "key" spot which I am missing? So far the only viable way for me to beat it is to capture the Fortress while the enemy is in a nearby island with his ship.

Yes, this is the only video I've found on impossible but:
1. He is starting with 2500 Gold and 5 Ore which I want to avoid. (I've read it has something to do with the Tournament Rules option).
2. He is also quite lucky of capturing the enemy town while the enemy is away. In any other scenario this may have been a totally viable strategy but in this one the way the map is designed, it is completely based on luck.
I was trying to figure out if there was some-kind of a detail which would greatly help but I doubt there it.

Finally did beat the mission on third try with a million save/loads.
The way I beat it is probably the same, I havent seen his video. But I started with nothing. Tried to not lose many units as I went. You cant go for green, he has to many units, a gate and will just charge your base. And you cant go for orange, since there are those damn Ayssids in the way. So I went straight for Necro town. Ignoring the Dungeon town. You cant win it that early anyways. Managed to take purples town.
Then made a new hero to defend it, cuz you need to have that capitol cash. Made my way to Dungeon next. But crucial part might be the cheese I do. You create a new hero at necro, and it has the destroy boat. And you place it south of necro by the trees, so it reaches the shore next to green. At some point green will go in a boat there and go to shore. Its in the fog, but you can still shatter his boat. So I didnt know which hero he has gotten there, but it luckly was one of the two big armies and a good char. So I destroyed the boat, halfing his army and setting one high stat char outta the game.
I had the cannondude just stationed in the beginner base. And bought all units that was needed to deter others from attacking the town. Never moved him before the end of the game.
A quick note though which I learned after. At the dungeon town you can get red dragons, those can be upgraded with the upgrader near greens town. Also there is a questperson near sulfur mine between necro and dungeon. If you bring 30 sulfur, you get 3 black dragons. Also if you get the minotaur dwelling, and you build the creature portal in dungeon, you get lots of minotaurs.

Probably a bit late, but I will give you my answer anyway, cause I enjoy doing it
You can beat all hota's scenarios quite easily on impossible, if you know what the map makers want you to do.
1.Rush
Don't wait for anything. Don't build money buildings unless you have nothing better to do, no creature to hire. Always fight with losses, albeit minimum.
2.Tavern abuse
Tavern is everything in hota. All tavern's heroes are good, and you can chain the recruitments with the new hota's feature - "invite the hero". They give you armies, money, resources, spells and movement points. You should always have 8 heroes and all your town should have garrison heroes.
All your money, at least at the beginning, comes from heroes with "money" special. In Evenmorn, the first hero you invite should be Aine, because she has 350+ and scholar, and she will be the mage guild with legs. The second should be Leena, 350+ and estates. Both of them can be leveled up with learning stones. The 3rd should be Zilare, he has forgetfulness. And 4th is Solmyr, chain ligthning. The spell heroes can be replaced with money or resources heroes after awhile.
In other scenarios, you could learn good spells like resurrection, clone, etc in the same way.
So here's what I did in Evenmorn
Choose Mage guild lvl2
Week 1 Day 5, flag the most important thing : the tavern. Don't touch ore and wood mines.
W1D6 recruit one army hero, then Aine, Leena.
Then farm around a little bit, built Casmetra up, especially her power. You should know how to farm things like black tower with only fodder 1-stacks losses.
W2D6 I recruit one army hero, then Zilare, Solmyr. With forgetfulness Casmetra can kill the enchanters with minimum losses.
W3D1 kill the angel guarding the hill fort, take the +3 necklace. Magic spring helps a lot.
W3D3 upgrade all your army, take the green garrison.
W3D4 meet green hero. His stats are 6 10 3 3 while casmetra is 8 7 11 11. He has much bigger army with 17 wyverns but after 2 chain lightnings he is dead.
W3D6 take green town. Then you should rush to green underground to flag things.
W4D3 flag magic forest.
And then after having faerie dragons, everything should be a cake.
Ps: I see that some people play without "invite heroes" feature. I will try this with Evenmorn.

So I did try without "invite heroes" feature.
Like I thought, it makes the game harder than playing with that feature. But to my surprise, not that much.
Here are what change
-I don't have Aine and Leena, that means I loss 1500 gold a day, which is a lot. The town has only 500 gold a day.
-I don't have Zilare and Solmyr (and scholar from Aine), means Casmetra is much weaker.
But it seems to me that the map maker thought about this too. If you choose mage guild lvl 2 as bonus, you can built lvl 3 in week 2. It has lightning, which is your main spell, and it has forgetfulness, for the enchanters blocking green zone. The spells are fixed, not random.
Without money heroes, you have like 7000-9000 less (as of W2D6, breaking into green zone). But you recruit 2 heroes less = 5000. One lvl3 mage guild more = 1000 and resources. So in reality, you have only 3-5k less, which is manageable.
The result is quite similar to previous post :
Choose Mage guild lvl2
Week 1 Day 5, flag the most important thing : the tavern. Don't touch ore and wood mines.
W1D6 recruit 2 army heroes. I got unlucky here and ended up with a necro hero, with ske he moves so slow on swarm that I decided to station him at the tavern for future hero recruits.
Casmetra and a support hero go for the nymph and sea bird, then Casmetra go north to get skill points, then back to town for forgetfulness.
W2 as soon as you have money, recruit another 2 army heroes. One goes to the sea.
W2D6 With forgetfulness Casmetra can kill the enchanters with minimum losses. Only loss necro creatures.
W3D1 kill the angel guarding the hill fort, take the +3 necklace.
Without chain lightning, I had some losses against the angels, like 80 nymph and some goblins.
Then rush for green, but he is underground. It seems AI put green main hero underground a lot. So easy win if you play fortress defense.
I also tried to go straight for him to test fighting him outside the wall, and also won quite easily. This time he is a little bit stronger : 6 11 6 6. One thing to notice : he has Blind, and in this map, at least the starting town and green town doesn't have disspell or cure. If he chose to blind the shooters I would be dead. But the AI has the tendency to blind the melee stacks, and avoid attack the blinded stacks, so if you protect the shooters tight, AI just goes around attack random things.
The only way you would lose to green is that he defenses in the castle. But since your week 3 army is much weaker than his, he certainly will come out attack you.

No no ”invite hero” feature used, it was hard, really hard. Had to do 50 retries, took weeks..

In the underground there is a quest to obtain Black dragons. Rush that and you can mop up most of the competition rather quick with it.
I've also posted a recording on youtube but the quality is so poor :/
