If sitting, give 70lvl. I understand you, when false maps. The first creates hard AI, if feeling an easy, the next creates harder AI, etc Don't use a false maps. Think about Brennus' tournament maps, you give 70lvl, movement, spell and creature bonuses to AI. H4 is script game, no hardcore. I think JVC doesn't like false maps. Then he created script program, no one created such maps, what I've played their maps. Grandmaster or something are an easy map also false. How? Multiplayer needs. I hope you like Boar Festival, when ready, but no multiplayer map. Waitings the next map. I think map's name is Illusion Islands. If no working well, my losings. And false maps are better rating.

I am getting tired to edit maps for "ai" because they are so defensive. So annoying. But best part of it, their playspeed.

Heh yes playspeed. Remember if you've found the best script AI. Copy from your map to paste another your map. Faster!

Don't forget that the H4 Advanced Options Map Editor has a tab on it for adding scripts to maps which help the AI play better

Yes! Experience level in Combat and Tactics skills, and then two or three spell skills, and creature bonuses. Not easy! If you tried AI scripts, you notice one script is lacking. It's heroes script. In H3 you can give 5lvl to all heroes. In H4 you can't give.

Example of Boar Festival

Hero -> Events -> Timed Events -> Increase experience -> Least and Most powerful Hero in This Army -> Amount 8000 in every day.

Why? If hero with script is dead or in prison, AI buys a new hero without script. JVC isn't given an easy task. So 0-16000 experience point to hero, depends on other strength heroes.

The next largest script like this

Hero -> Events -> Timed Events -> Conditionalaction -> Greater Than or Equals -> Number of Creatures in Army -> Angel, Random Number 2-10, Give 2 angels to This Army in every 7 day, etc

Why? If you want to all creatures. Working! Remember save, copy and paste. Faster! But first time. Remember scripts have different alternative. I chose scripts for Boar Festival. I'm building "AI golem". I also test them.

So you can kind of give experience to heroes without actually putting the script on the hero itself, by using placed events.

You would place the events around castles or other important areas the AI would frequent.

Yes when sitting 70lvl. Remember Allied AI playing poor. The best is enemies/opponents. Just tested two AI without troops*, and opponent AI with dozens and several Black Dragons attacked Allies AI for testing in the 3 months. Ok 5 players, 4 can be human. No allies and XL. I like developing AIs. Map can also call pre-map. Illusion Islands I can build a normal map but hardcore AI. Now possibility isn't. Because of created landscape.

*A very poor played AI. I don't know why AI never played brilliance, if Allied. I think player can't learn strategy.

Yes maybe will be possible boosting something using scripts. Eg. on high level AI often made suicide fighting with strong neutrals :0))) It can be repaired by highest units growth.

Scripts have different alternative

Example of

Monster -> Events - Defeated -> Only run if owner is -> colour -> Give 10 monsters/troops to This Army.

But creative is demanded! And testing also too much working with scripts and not even easy math with.

The H4 Advanced Options Editor actually has scripts that reduce neutral army sizes when the AI attacks them so that the AI will take significantly fewer losses

I originally tried reducing the neutral stacks at the beginning of the AI turn, but that takes too much time to run for every neutral stack on the map. This would be the ideal solution since then the AI would be even more likely to attack a neutral stack.

Maybe there's a way I could speed that up. I haven't taken a look at these scripts in a while.

There was also a plan to make more creatures available to recruit, but I never got around to creating those scripts.

Give the AI lots of free resources in events (not just gold, everything) or start with flagged mines.

Since normal Heroes IV recruiting is limited by town hall, I found that works (specially gold mines).

Also give them more starting buildings.

Even in multiplayer-intended maps, this can be done by scripting mines to switch allegiance only if the player is AI.

Hmm I love to give AI bonuses. Boar Festival - map is given 1m gold, 750 wood and ore, and then 375 crystal, gem, mercury and sulphur.

Happy AI. But I gave over billion gold to Avenger in Return to the Avenger (MWM2) - map, so Avenger doesn't pay surrender.

Illusion Island keeps the same gold balance. 1m is a good.

Having played HMM 2-4, I get that people don't like how they changed up some of the gameplay but I honestly think the reaction (then and now) is way overblown. HMM4 is an excellent game and if you were to give HMM 2-4 to a random gamer today who's never heard of the series, they'd probably like 4th the most due to actual usage of the heroes in combat.

The only real annoying thing is leveling up after 25 becomes difficult and they should've figured out a system that would balance that, but then again, the devs had little time.

The other thing is that the army units look like each one was created with a different art direction. Few of the units look like they belong in the same "faction." Their visual style and color schemes don't really match, except some of the Haven/Life units. But these are super minor complaints for what is a fantastic game.
