It looks funny if you give it a pedo spin, that’s for sure. But given the same spin, millions of grandparents or parents would also look quite weird canoodling their little ones. You’d have your snapshot moments, too, if they filmed you all the time.
One can say it is not proper to make fun of the situation, because it is a grandparent comforting his grandson on the death of his son. But that’s part of being the president, you gotta have thick skin about such things.
About taking it seriously as a clue of pedophilia. I mean, come on… Even without the context, it is such a funny thing to assume. Which pedophile would abuse a child so directly in front of a dozen witnesses and cameras? On the contrary, they’d be extra careful not to appear weird.

Well, I know what you're getting at, I think a lot of people are very exuberant and I'm pretty sure each one of us has at least one such uncle or aunt in the family. Especially in southern Europe where people love kids and are very open with their emotions (not in a harmful sense), and it's nothing uncommon to witness where I live.
Unfortunately a lot of potential pedophiles are disregarded due to people seeing their behavior as something perfectly fine. There were cases of actors working with children having a darker side. Not to mention all those pedophile scandals in the clergy (also disregarded as something completely natural, that an old guy only hugs and paupers a child because he's "simply good-hearted" etc). I always think someone who is too much interested in kids, especially with a job which is built around entertaining them like clowns or animators, has either a childs mentality to be able to play with them, or shows a potentially(?) unhealthy interest in them. People who are definitely not some basement dwellers. Showing children too much affliction either comes naturally or...
Also, I hate kids

Imo, he does it especially because there are cameras around and such display of affection pays, in this context. If you watch the video, the boy's uncle does exactly same thing as the video starts, he cuddles and kisses the boy. Ordinary people tend to be rather shy when media spots are on, while political figures and celebrities are exactly the opposite, they play a role first.
Nonetheless, no matter the guy's political side, losing your son so young, then having near you his boy who recalls you everything of his passed father, must have been a heartbreaking moment, the pedo suspicions should wait for a better occasion. That was my point, but whatever.

"Acts" themselves yes. But their pretty open with their pampering where anyone can see it even. They take on this "guise" to attract children who see them as a nice man/woman who take interest in them (kids like attention).
I had at least two cases cases in my community where a person considered to be "open with children", and "having an approach to kids" was legally convicted of child abuse. One was a clergy man, one a "good uncle" who every local kid knew (he worked at school for a time if I remember correctly and took some odd jobs here and there). I also remember one freelance musician-guy who was singing kids songs (some kind of mascot he created was their protagonist) while I was on summer camp, who I found in newspapers years later of being convicted...
