now, i understand most of you won't grasp the implications of what i'm saying here; and i know you'll just call it an off-topic rant. simply put, i am pointing out an easily observable phenomenon, that has dire implications. there are those among us, ladies and gentlemen, who will absolutely, ignore their OWN senses, taught or not, in favor of some authority figure; no matter how small. even one so innocuous as valeriy, who has no power beyond being the creator of some obscure website. if you're taking this kind of snow LIGHTLY, then you haven't been paying attention to the world at large. THESE are the kinds of people they have been using AGAINST everyone else.
Lol, fred, this is such a wall of text to simply cover up the fact that you had no idea what stealth edit was actually for and it’s so “you” to project your denial and ignorance on others in order not to face your mistakes.
Fact 1: It is absolutely clear from your reply to Galaad that you presumed the function of Stealth Edit was to remove the “edited by X” stamp on the upper right corner of an edited post.
Fact 2: It is also clear this is not the intended function as you desperately try to claim here, because there already is another funcion which works perfectly fine. Had what you presumed been the intended function, Stealth Edit simply wouldnt work at all, it wouldnt do this other thing which has practical benefit. I even put a screenshot of what it does ffs.
Fact 3: Unlike you, most of us figured out what Stealth Edit was actually for, we’ve been using it as it was intended for years, people gave advice to others about its practical use, how it prevents minor edits from rearranging the recent replies list. I figured out what it does around my first month in here and guess what, the actual “intended function” is a much more practical function than removing “edited by” stamp, unless of course, you have some weird fixation about trying to hide editing your posts.
Normally, it would have been a little sad to watch you embarrass and ridicule yourself over and over again. But your delusions and miscalculations turned into such a toxic state of constantly insulting others out of your own ignorance, I just think you truly deserve the petty little psycho you have devolved into.

yes, it is sad that your thought process (or lack thereof) is on full display here, artie. like i said, there's no two ways to see this. you're either right, or you're wrong. and, you're wrong. you read books, right? ever read the dictionary? ever look up the definition of the word "stealth"? what does is say? how does the concept of stealth even apply to the "stealth edit" function?
simple answer: it does not. at all. and it's utterly ridiculous of you or anyone else to make any attempt to argue otherwise.

The current function is ALSO a kind of stealth, it’s not like the name is irrelevant to what the check box does.
Just because your first impression of the name Steath Edit isnt what it actually does, doesnt mean the name is wrong: You edit without appearing in the Last Replies list, your lack of appearence is stealth, too.

That is not even an objection of any substance.
Not to mention, your claim was not that the naming of the checkbox was confusing or wrong. Your claim was that it didnt function and it clearly does.
But the naming isnt a bad choice either, certainly not wrong, what were they supposed to call it, “last reply edit?” People usually figure out what it does and where the stealth is when they use it a few times. It’s nobody else’s fault you were unable to.

The Stealth Edit doesn't change if you can see the edits, guys. It just doesn't bump the thread up to the top of the active threads list, and it doesn't list the editor as the last person to post in the thread. It doesn't seem like it's worth much, but hey, that's how it's worked the last few decades and it was useful back in the day when this site was active.
