Great Moments of TV entertainment
25 years ago Giovanni Trappatoni held his famous nonsensical "anger speech" (as manager of Bayern München) (you can see that here.
But there are other jewels.
IN 1971, in German WDR there was a Talkshow named "Ende Offen" (Open End). In this one the guests discussed whether music with a critical social aspiration was allowed to be marketed and sold like a normal market product. One of the guests was one of the singers and acting manager of the German Band Ton Steine Scherben (with Rio Reiser on lead vocals and guitar) and at the end of the show he did what you can see here.
If you watch it to end you'll see that the guy collects the mikes, commenting, "I need those for the people in the juvenile prison".

Well, there are some really absurd moments in the history of Turkish television but I doubt they are “translatable” in terms of language or culture. For instance, I remember as a kid that Chernobyl had just happened. Our Black Sea region which is the land of tea farms was close enough to the disaster zone, so rumors had spread that drinking tea was risky, you could get cancer by radiation. So the minister of industry just got on the TV, he was holding a cup of tea and taking a sip, telling the cameras:
- Look, nothing’s happening to me. I am not dying. Our tea is just fine!
As if death by radioactive poisoning would occur like taking a pill of cyanide or if you could just give clearence to all farms like that. I guess it was a sylmbolical gesture of reassurance in his mind but he immediately become a laughing stock. Not on Youtube though.
