Poll Question:
Navigation and Scouting specialists

Do you consider Navigation and Scouting specialists worthy as main heroes?

In both cases it obviously depends on the map, but Navigation is mostly useful in the early-mid game. Later when you learn spells like Water Walk, Town Portal, Fly and Dimension Door or get Boots of Levitation or Angel Wings you mostly want to avoid water, especially since TP does'nt work on water.

For Scouting it's also mostly useful in the early-mid game and more for scouts, unless you are playing 1-hero formats, where it could be mandatory.

So should these heroes be picked or avoided in your opinion?

Scouting is most definitely a good main hero hero specialty, the Navigation on the other kinda needs a specific map in order to be good. I think you're right when you said that Navigation is mostly an early to mid-game skill, as later the spells kinda take over. Also, there just isn't much of reason for main hero to "be" on water, as the water lacks on good objectives to complete. It can be gold mine, and provide a lot of resources that you would need to fight in the mainland, but it just doesn't make much reason to have that being done with main hero. Notably, even just having the Expert Navigation alone makes the ships go really fast, and that can be easily acquired with secondary hero as well. There can be good maps for Navigation specialists, as just guaranteeing the skill alone could be very valuable. Overall, I would still choose another hero as main if possible.

Scouting specialty on the other hand is a very decent ability on random maps, as that makes the player to do the most optimal objectives, without needing to guess when to go for off-road trips.

Yeah I pretty much agree 100% with you Hourglass.
I dread going into water with my main hero, as I can't protect my towns with TP, so I don't really like Navigation specialists, at least not as mains.
You can cast a vote if you like.
