If OSM was still active…
How do you think AI would affect it?
Do you think we’d be quoting it a lot? Would you take an AI argument seriously?

How so?
Ok then, I use a English spelling for a sexy wordböök (6,0) from an answer, when version updates and increases yet.. Ok we go to the matter:
Otherwise AI gave wrong or different answers, matters, thus question forms or sources.. An example you ask to "bob meaning slang" If you know about bob, you ask for "bob meaning slang sexual intercourse", but AI uses sources from network, its just limited, thus published site where you can find a definition, meaning, but if PDF, etc, so you or AI can't get it.. Or hard to tell things, when I've experience with AI, thus the question must be decent like allantois in humans.. And then I've not experienced with AI in discussion, etc An example does the God exist or only I used Google AI in search, never went deeper.. Later on I try ChatGPT, but not for wordböök.. Yes I know AI company develops and becomes better AI version.. Think about car, television, etc Thus today AI is still puny like the first car or television.. When AI lost to CPU and GPU in chess.. But in the future we meet a HAL 9000-like.. It after you trust in AI, because of unbeatable, remember the next version beat the unbeatable, so the same result as the God.. Development never goes to end, except question forms, etc When you know 1+1 is always the same answer, and then it has enough.. But today people or companies develop so fast than Murphy's Law.. Let's see..

I bought a new washing machine, and of course it is the modern crap, no buttons but clickable interface ; I am not the most stupid ever but couldn’t figure how to make it work. kept pushing with my finger here and there, nothing happened.
So, out of desperation, I tried ChatGpt for fun, told it I have this model and ask how do I wash this and that. Under 1/10 of a second, it gave me all the things to do, where to press, the detailed steps and so.
I love it. This is what we need, AI helping us to clean our dirty underwear.

Same with an electronic door lock.
But I don't like AI the way you have to talk to it like you/or it is an idiotic, you best friend, or a protected class so just search the model number and somebody, somewhere saves you from this BS that was caused by someone's need to be obtuse.
What were we talking about?

Is it wise to quote LLM models in online forum discussions about real life events? Will such quotes be taken seriously?
-----------------------------------------------------
It depends on what you're quoting the LLM for and who your audience is.
In most online forums, quoting an LLM by itself is not usually persuasive. People generally don't treat "ChatGPT said..." or "Claude said..." as evidence in the same way they would a primary source, official document, scientific paper, or eyewitness account. An LLM is a tool that generates text, not an authority on real-world events.
A few considerations:
* For factual claims: It's better to cite the original source (news article, government report, research paper, court document, etc.) rather than the LLM's summary.
* For explanations: An LLM can be useful if you're sharing a clear explanation of a complex topic, but it's stronger to present the reasoning directly instead of appealing to the model's authority.
* For analysis or interpretation: An LLM's perspective is just one possible synthesis. People are more likely to engage with the underlying arguments than with the fact that an AI produced them.
If you do mention an LLM, it's often more effective to frame it like this:
> "I asked ChatGPT to summarize the competing interpretations. It suggested X because A, B, and C. Here are the sources it relied on..."
rather than:
> "ChatGPT says X, therefore X is true."
The first invites discussion of the reasoning. The second is an appeal to the model's authority, which many people will dismiss.
There's also a practical issue: LLM outputs can vary between runs, models, and over time. A quote from an LLM isn't a stable reference in the way a published paper is.
The exception is when the discussion is about AI itself—for example, comparing how different models respond to a prompt, evaluating bias, or discussing prompt engineering. In those contexts, quoting model outputs is directly relevant.
Overall, the strongest use of an LLM in forum discussions is as a thinking aid rather than as a citation. If the model helps you formulate a good argument or find relevant sources, cite those sources and present the argument in your own words. That approach is generally taken more seriously than quoting the model itself.

Now answer specifically for Heroes Community forum, Other Side of the Monitor sub-forum.
--------------------------------------------------------------
For the Other Side of the Monitor subforum on Heroes Community, I'd expect quoting an LLM to have limited persuasive value in discussions about real-life events. ([Heroes Community][1])
That section has long been a place for politics, current events, philosophy, and contentious social topics. Communities like that tend to value:
* arguments that members can scrutinize,
* links to primary or reputable secondary sources,
* consistency with what you've posted over time.
Simply saying "GPT-5.5 says..." or "Claude says..." is unlikely to change many minds. In fact, for some regulars it may have the opposite effect, because they see an LLM as just another participant synthesizing information rather than an authority.
That said, there are situations where an LLM can be useful:
* If you use it to summarize competing arguments, then clearly say it's an AI-generated summary.
* If you use it to organize a long post while making clear that the conclusions are yours.
* If you use it to find sources, then cite those sources instead of the model.
I'd avoid posting long, verbatim AI transcripts. Many experienced forum users recognize the style, and walls of AI-generated prose can be perceived as low-effort or impersonal even when factually correct. This attitude is common across many discussion forums, which increasingly emphasize that AI should support human contributions rather than replace them. ([Atlassian Community][2])
On Heroes Community specifically, if you have an established reputation for thoughtful posts, people are more likely to engage with your reasoning than with the fact that an AI helped you formulate it. If they discover the post is mostly copied from an LLM, some participants may discount it—not necessarily because it's AI, but because they want to debate your position rather than the model's.
A more effective pattern would be:
> "I asked GPT-5.5 to summarize the strongest arguments on both sides. It identified A, B, and C. I think B is the strongest because..."
This invites discussion of the substance instead of asking readers to trust the model.
So, if your goal on Other Side of the Monitor is to be taken seriously, I'd treat an LLM as a research assistant or editor—not as an authority whose words should carry weight on their own.

In reality, you should know the answer to this, artu. This is the OSM. Of course people would use AI and phrase their prompts in a way that is beneficial to their opinion. Of course people would disregard and belittle any AI-generated post that doesn't sit well with them. Tools change. People don't.

This is one of the things I use it for most of the time, too. Setting up home machines for better efficiency. I bought a 5 speaker LG soundbar system, connected it to my LG TV with optic cable and suddenly my TV’s and Apple TV’s remotes cant control volume! I asked AI and it directed me to a synchronization button buried under some far fetched menu of the TV. It would have taken hours if I tried to discover that myself.
Do I miss analog machines, I have my father’s Sony turntable with traditional speakers, set up with a traditional amplifier in the guest house. No bluetooth. But I seldom use it, it’s like a ritual now, rather than a casual thing.
I also use AI to create two opposing sides of an argument and make them debate each other. Things tend to stay more objective that way since it’s designed to pamper and side with you.
I tried to use it for map videos like “a five minute video showing how Anatolian borders changed between 1200 and 1600” but even though I have Pro subscription, results under Gemini are not very bright, to say the least.
@Geny
I mean, I have a guess which I happen to think of as pretty accurate but I just missed to have a little chat with you guys. How is life under Netanyahu, life under Erdogan is lovely as usual!

Oh, it's great! The religious sector is getting stronger and bolder, the secular sector is struggling under the weight of military service, our foreign relations and public opinion are at an all time low, the government is openly defying the courts, crime is rising and everything is as it should be because, obviously, Netanyahu can do no wrong and when something bad happens he is never responsible for it. It's a paradise, I tell you.

At this point I consider "AI" the biggest overstatement by name ever (I know, it's a temporary label, since the next thing will no doubt come).
What we have is a tool that is pretty helpful with internet searches because it's easier to handle and it gives you a search summary.
That's not "AI". You know, HAL or "Colossus" or, you know, intelligent robots.
The reason for this is that at this point algorithms are what they are and there is a lot of doubt that "NI" is algorithmic. Instead, it looks a lot as if there were quantum processes involved in the brain.
Interestingly enough, a couple days ago I watched a video by Prof. Lene Hau in which she explains some quantum stuff and then giving her personal opinion - the brain might just be an interface allowing to access something like the universal mind.
If you want to check
(These videos are, interestingly, made with the help of AI, obviously, but Lene Hau is a pretty big name in physics).
Anyway, isn't it fascinating how technical progress is always used in some trivial, harmful way? I mean, sure, AI has its uses - but you'd think it's main use is making deep fakes, whether in science, writing fake papers, or on the internet, creating fake videos, allegedly showing celebs having kinky sex or creating fake proof, fake news articles, fake websites fake realities.
But the main thing is that it's not AI that's behind that, but humans just using a tool enabling them to do that.
So bottom line is - OSM would derail into meta arguments about creating fake facts with AI, that is, between those able and willing to use the tools.
And that's what AI is all about - everyone willing to get into it and use it is then better equipped to support their subjective opinions, or, phrased differently, create their own bubble AND the "facts" to support them.

I think Large Language Models can be considered a form of intelligence, using algorithms properly is an intelligent act, remember how the West World approached it, humans have (mostly predictable) algorithms just as well. What it is not, at least yet, is artificial consciousness and most people think of that when they hear “intelligence.” The evolutionary shift between intelligence, awareness and consciousness is not exactly crystal clear though. Plants also react to their surroundings but they certainly dont have what we would call consciousness.

If I still remember right we use 5-10% of our brain, don't forget a unconscious and memory cells.. Yes what memory cell is meaning, when you visited in gym, and you stop it, later on you go to gym back, your body remembers the past, so you get a strength back or lesser, it depends on age.. If you never visited in gym, you can't get a rising a lot, if you are aged.. Ok memory cells must have other tasks, not only strength.. What about unconscious? You learned to walking, and then it stay in unconscious same as book has fallen from shelf, so book remains well with covered in dust, you find a book, and your memory comes back.. Think about an old DOS can return back, even if deleted, thus they planned already for AI.. And I read living computer memory cell in memory stick or it's (harddisk), when an old knowledge, but I haven't a magazine, where? Ok I waited for it.. When robot?! It needed AI, but they have different alternatives, later on the best alternative, thus succeeded AI, for example, they don't develop to the first AI, and it after robot body.. So told that PC is a brain with an eye, etc Do you remember? Hmm spider? Not only plants.. How a spider can weave skillfully, etc. When a spider's brain is upside down.. We don't know about the brain.. Thus different abilities.. I think they develop to AI too.. An example thermal vision, night vision.. It after AI can do perception..

Last time I checked we didn't have a clue what "intelligence" is and what it's brought about by and the same is true for consciousness/awareness.
So calling something artificial intelligence is a bit daft - of course only as long as you start studying social networks at which point you may ask yourself whether AI isn't actually a more sophisticated form of intelligence than that some part of the users demonstrate.

Remember AI project is still in its infancy.. When maybe AI hasn't calculator, but AI can beat the mathematician, it happened mathematician won AI by 10-7.. AI used the internet.. Not calculator.. We don't think task is an easy.. But intelligence hmm you can ask for test.. Look again, someone is skillful at music, art, etc you can try it.. But it's talented hmm.. How about chess? Carlsen, Kasparov and Fischer have 190 IQ, and they are world champion.. And computer, esp. Stockfish engine can play chess brilliantly, thus powerful CPU and developed program.. So AI is also program.. Let's wait for improvement.. Yes algorithm..

The term AI has been in use for decades. For all intents and purposes all it means is "the latest fad in computer sciences". Right now its LLMs. Before that it was learning machines, such as Reinforcement Learning and Neural Networks. And even before that "classic" deterministic algorithms were called AI. It never meant that this Artificial Intelligence can rival Human Intelligence in all aspects, even though it was a lot better than us in some regards. And it will take a bit longer until it will mean that.

This is just you being your usual "I want to be contrarian" self.
It is old news that "intelligence" exists in various forms and is not a monolith, but it basically refers to an organism's ability to utilize itself and its surrounding environment in helpful and novel ways. You can break it down further into spatial intelligence, mathematical, intrapersonal, interpersonal, linguistic, kinesthetic, etc., with there being a lot of overlap between them. So, Messi is really "smart" in the sense that he has extremely good spatial and kinesthetic awareness of the field, the players, the ball, and his own body. This all together - along with an athletic physique - makes him prodigious at what he does.
Human beings are exceptional because they possess an immensely broad array of intelligences, and these are all integrated with a consciousness that can either explicitly or passively access knowledge and experiences for guiding future decisions. So, while a jumping spider might be much "smarter" than a person at gauging distances or a fish much "smarter" at determining its position within a school of other fish, humans can do all sorts of stuff and synthesize/integrate these abilities synergistically in countless trillions of ways. So, we kick everything else's ass to such an extreme degree that we are actually a severe threat to ourselves.
"Artificial" simply means that it is made/manipulated by people. It is obviously not a literal type of intelligence in the same way that it exists within the biochemical infrastructure of organisms that came about through natural phenomena, but it loosely resembles intelligence therefore we call it intelligence. A fruit dessert pizza is not literally a traditional pizza, but we just call it pizza because it resembles a pizza. So, you need to lighten up and stop acting so German with words.
