NWC/3DO developers!!!

Some of the comments written on the boards here really make sense and would improve Heroes 4 a lot if they were implemented in future patches and/or expansions.  The problem is that the best ideas are scattered throughout the site.

My questions are:

1.1. Do the developers of the heroes series visit the Heroes Communities and read topics?
1.2. If so, then do they provide feedback on questions and ideas.  If they like suggestions that are posted here, what are the odds that the proposals will actually make it to the game?
1.3. If not, are there other places where fans can comment on previously released heroes versions or versions yet to come (Heroes 5? or 4 exp)?

There are a number of things I would like to see changed, added or removed in future patches.  I really liked the event scroll down bar in Heroes 3 at the bottom of the combat screen.  It would be nice if it reappeared in H4, can't be that much work, no?  Another thing bothering me is the alignment of the buildings in the towns.  Though great for noobs, it does make the towns graphically much more dull and they're looking less distinct than they did in H3.

In the hope that the heroes developers will read this topic, post your suggestions/proposals here!  Only constructive replies please, there's no point in criticizing and not offering any possible solutions.

I have some suggestions:
1.5th Level creatures. For Chaos it might be an upgrade from Hydra to Chaos Hydra (those were great)or an upgrade to Rust Dragon, for Death, the old Ghost Dragon or Arch Devil, for Nature it could be Nature Dragon or Eternal Pheonix (I dunno, i'm not a creative person...) and so on.
2.Fix known bugs
3.Make some towns weaker (ORDER) and others stronger (MIGHT)
4.Do something with spells (HYPNOTIZE)like make them weaker.
5.Perhaps a new town?I know its not likely, but it would be nice.

1. Maybe.. but most likely not.

They don't post here.. Whether they visit it or not, but we have had the odd guy claim he was a tester for 3DO who was stressed out and that we should 'give their QA a break'. Whether the actual developers visit these forums or not I don't know (I doubt it since we don't get much traffic anyway -- waste of time + they have their own forums) but they don't post here.

Yes.. 3DO has their own message boards which the developers frequent and post in.. Go to the official website (sorry I'm too lazy to dig up URLs )

Thanks for the info, Jenova.  Sad that the 3do developers do not come here often, they'd better done so (would've prevented several problem/bug issues).

To Big_Blackie:  Yeah I agree there on all posts, especially the one about a new town, really cool!  Don't think level 5 creatures should be added, though.  They would unbalance the game, level 1-2 units would become useless in combat.  Now I find myself not using my level 1 creatures after the early game, 'cause they're too weak against level 3-4 creatures.  Would be cool, but I don't think level 5 creatures fit into Heroes 4.

Hey, I just had an weird idea.  In stead of having level 5 creatures, there could be combinable creatures.  Just take two equally sized stacks of combinable creatures - say for example trolls and nightmares - and kablammo! - nightmare mounted trolls.  Imps riding seamonsters making them fly - hahaha!  or is that a bit too crazy.  Anyway, I think this idea has potential.

Djive: Edited to take away a comment to a post that was posted to the wrong topic.

Hehe, I guess I'll consider that as a compliment.  I didn't say the idea had 'great' potential, it was just a crazy thought.

Hey, how about this.  Though it's pretty cool already that heroes can develop into several subclasses, they still start out pretty much the same.  Why not let every 2 types of town related heroes inherit properties of certain creatures belonging to that town.  For example necromancers could be undead and skeletal, or give the druids in the preserve a more sprite like appearance and wings.  I sure think it could be interesting if no too powerful abilities are distributed among the heroes, or is this another idea ready for the madhouse?

Hmmmm, then perhaps Upgrades to SOME units. Of course 5th level creatures would be cool, its very unlikely. So, why don't we just make them into seemingly useless upgrades? I have here examples:
Rust Dragon-No stat upgrades, Acid Breath. (lowers Defense by 10% or something like that)
Eternal Pheniox-No stat Upgrades, Ressurects 10% more HP
Something that doesn't really matter...or seems to matter.

I like that a lot better, rust dragons were among my favourites in H3 too!  Eternal phoenix sounds cool as well.  The only problem perhaps is the upgrading part (since they removed it and all).  Maybe they could give level 4 creatures experience points too, when they kill creatures they gain experience.  Once they have enough experience they automatically upgrade or level up to elite or veteran units.  Black dragons could become Rust dragons and Phoenix could turn into Eternal phoenix.  Or would that really be too confusing?

I don't think it would be that confusing. It could be 5000 exp.points for Level 4 units.Something of that sort.
By the way, I have a few more examples:
Chaos Hydra: 20% chance Paralyze
Arch Devil: Summons 20% more, 2x Spell points
Ghost Dragon: +20% defense

A few more:
Steel Dragon: +10% Defense
Thunder titan: 20% chance of enemy getting hit by lightning, lightning does 15 per titan
Ancient Behemoth: The old defense decrease, but not nearly as much (10%-30%?)
Iron Bird: Lightning does 20% more damage
Archangel:Ressurects 10% more
Cavalier: More Joust bonus
Ocean Monster: Devours more

Yeah, I like those ideas, your names too.  Hydras having paralyze seems a bit over the top though, Slow is perhaps some less powerful.  I like those funny looking seamonsters a lot.  Thinking about seamonsters and the lantern thingy hanging above their mouth, do you think adding day and night to H4 would be a good idea?  Turns would be night and day subsequently and undead and chaos troops would for example gain speed during the night where the other alignments gain speed during day turns.  Some units like seamonsters, phoenix, elves (infravision) wouldn't suffer from a night time penaly and would always have a better speed.  Adding changeing seasons to the map could also be interesting.  Snow terrain increasing during the winter and desert/dust areas enlarging in the heat of the summer.  Mostly eye candy, I admit, but this could be fun.

I also have an Idea. It deals with the creatures.
Perhaps creatures could level up (as you said before) and get skills such as Combat? Let's say a Squire leveled up 2 times and now has Basic Combat and Basic Archery. Perhaps, he could get no melee penalty? Of course, we can't have Level 1 creatures running around with GM Combat. So we could have this:
Lv1 Creatures: Expert Combat Skills
Lv2 Creatures: Advanced Combat Skills(Or for spellcasters: 1 Advanced school of Magic)
Lv3 Creatures: Advanced Combat +Basic Skills (Advanced _____ Magic)
L4 Creatures: Basic Combat Skills ( Expert _____ Magic)
So, what do you think?

Whoa, sounds huge man!  I would allow first level creatures to get up to GM levels too, perhaps then people would still be using them during the mid and late game (now I leave them at my towns most of the time 'cause they only slow me down and die too fast)  Archery only for ranged creatures right?  Squires with archery sounds a bit funny to me.  Maybe it would be cool if the creatures' statistics would improve upon levelling up too.  Say a level two skeleton has 9 lives for example in stead of only 8.  Speed could also improve, or the number of shots for ranged creatures.  Special abilities such as the squires' stunning could happen more often when they're at higher levels too, don't you think?

Off course I'm going to the asylum, lol.  That's where the dragons are, yaah!

'bout the stacking of creatures of different levels, yeah I've thought about that problem and could think of two solutions.
1. No stacking: advantages are the simplicity and the tactical considerations this might add to the game, disadvantages are having a hard time choosing between the 8 level 4 cyclopes in your current army and the 22 fresh ones bought in town...
2. Stacking showing one single unit in combat/map/hero screen, but when its details are revealed you can see the differently experienced stacks.  Lowest levelled creatures die first I guess.  Unstacking should be possible too.
This second option is quite complexe, I don't know what's better, stacking or not.

ok i might be a little of subject but has anyone else wondered why you have to chose between which units you want?
cuz i'll be playing a game and if i want both of them i have to go and take over another kingdom of the same type and get them resources to build their bulidings and recuit them.

I think the main reason why the makers of H4 have chosen for this option is because they wanted to bring more variation in the game.  Now two players having the same town can build it up differently, creating more distinct armies and ways of playing.  In some towns it's definitely a hard choice, I know.  Phoenixes and Fearie dragons..., I wished I could have'em both in the same town, same with nightmares and efreet.  What do you think about the idea of units gaining experience and levelling up?

I myself like that you have to choose between two units. Makes more strategic choices available.

And those who want a heroes with advancing in levels units play Disciples 2! Adding experience to the units in HoMM4 would change the game completely and I think it would only be possible for HoMM5 but best this function never is used in the Heroes series.

Yeah, tell me something new.
How about when you have Lv 1 Squires and Lv 3 Squires, the Lv 1 Squires advance to Lv 3 (you don't think they wouldn't teach the new recruits, did you?) But if that stack dies, you have to start all over again. That seems like a good idea. And, perhaps, as pegasus said, it would be a minor upgrade.
