Uprisings, locked threads, and -QPs, oh my! (or: Disturbance in the Library)

After three days or so of debating the usefulness of a new mod in the library, we have now seen multiple locked threads in an hour, a feat unheard of in the Library before. I had to ask myself what the H-E-dubba hockey sticks has this place come to.

So I thought to myself, "Self, there's been a lot of posting in the forum that looks overbloated with personality clashes. What's the big deal?" I couldn't come up with an answer right away, so I made myself some breakfast and took a shower. I looked at the threads again, and I still couldn't up with an answer that satisfied me. All I saw was a few people arguing over leadership in a message board over a game series that has lost a lot of steam over the past few months.

So I thought to myself again, "Self, maybe the game is the problem behind all this." I hadn't played HoMM3 in a while (and have yet to install HoMM4), so I fired it up again and played a small map for a few weeks in game-time to see if somehow a spirit of negativity had descended over all players of the game. Okay, it still looks like a strategy game to me that has a few nice quirks, and I don't feel that negative. Tired, but not negative. Not only that, but I think I improved a little in my strategy to command the map against the AI and beat it sooner than I already do. That's always a good thing in my book.

Then I realized that I had forgotten to wonder why there's such conflict. I felt less uneasy about this place, knowing that whatever happens, life will go on. This board will eventually be abandoned when we find the new bestest fantasy-themed TBS ever and everyone flocks over to that one instead. There will be similar arguements over time, but I have the faith that people with foresight and perspective will not worry too much about a few errant posts that talk directly about the game. So threads are being rehashed. So what?

I'm not saying that people who want to be mods should give it up. I'm also not trying to say that the people who play the major roles in this conflict don't have foresight or perspective. What I am saying is that perhaps a lot of small problems (and I call this a small problem) can be solved by some good food, a shower, some sleep and doing something enjoyable instead of playing power games that don't mean all that much.

what we need, perhaps, is to sit back and cool off before working things out in private conversation before anyone does something they may regret later in life. After all, it's only a game.

True Ture .. it is just that they can;t back out now without losing "face" (reputatation/ego) so they will keep at it .. till something seriously gets done!@

And the may not like the serious part.

Careful, Hexa.

The above post was meant for *all* parties involved, including you. I only ask that you take care not to go overboard in playing your hand or you might become who you are attempting to correct.

The way i see it i have already made my point. I have made my ideas public and then its up to each one to make up their own opinion. The problem is that after first thread got closed where all discussions were concentrated everyone made up their own threads and now we have threads of fighting all over the place.

I am sticking with my basic idea: We obviously need another moderator in library and i think Andi would fit the role perfect.

And if people doesnt agree with me its up to them. Each one has their own opinions/views.

as you both agree Stiven and Hexa on one point that is your views have been clearly stated and are there fro all to see and evaluate..

My suggestion is to leave it for a day or so the world does not end tommorrow if a person is or is not appointed a moderator and there are many considerations to taken into account in the appointment of Moderators least of all compatibility...so whilst i have no opinion to offer regarding the merits of either agument . I am convinced a resolution will now be forthcoming but reality check you lived this long a few more days wont hurt for consideration of the many ppl who may vie for the postion of mod if warranted.

Night, the threads were a sarcastic joke which went majorly OTT.  The appointment of mods wasn't an issue there... it was penile politics regarding Hexa and the library.  After working out that reason would take no effect, I used udity as a distraction.  Nice to see RL methods work well on the net..lol.

But in all seriousness, I stopped playing practical jokes as a child when i learned in the hardest possible way tht if they get out of hand they hurt.  I'm not saying people need to be good all the time... a little bit of naughtyness is a good thing.  But the tossers should remember this saying:- "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".

Now... Salam, Pax and Peace to all and lets get back to what we do best... writing fun, amusing or nescessary threads to be moderated for a change.
