Your best town in heroes 4
Heroes is out for some time now and since I think noone made a thread about this (I might be wrong) I would like to know with what town you play best in heroes 4 and why, wich creatures you usually choose and any tactics/strstegy you recomend.
I personaly haven't played heroes 4 very much, but for now My best town for now is necropolis, firsdt because I always loved undead, it is a shame thaa they mixed them with demons. The first level creatures aren't that strong, especially imps that die very often, but skeletons still rock like in old times. In 2nd level I usually go for cerberus (but I sometimes choose ghost because I like undead), beause it seems to me that cerebus are more durable and it is a ot easier to hit 2 and 3 targets in heroes 4 then in heroes 3. In the third level both creatures rock, I usually go for vampires in small and medium maps and venom spawns on larger maps because in larger maps my necromancer will most certainly get grandmaster necromancy and them I have the two creatures that makes an almost unstopable army. About 4th level I don't think they neither of them is that great, if I don't have many gold I usually buy my 3rd level creatures first, but between the two I usually go for demons beacause of their teleport and summon hability.

Heroes 4 necropolis is overpowered and rules all. Imp cheating allows to steal all enemy spellpoints before combat, Devils are first turn hero killers. If enemy positioning sucks, your spawns take away hero 2 on turn 1. Take along a nice family of vamps and the party really gets rollin'. Then there's death magic plus access to order magic. What more do you need?

my fav is the acadamy. The genie/golem dragon combination is near impossible to beat. with this combo, I can defeat most castle combat w/o any losses if troop strengths are similar.

My favorite is academy because of Titans and Golem Dragons plus the illusions. I hate games where I can't have a town producing each of the level 4's. However, I have found that I am much better at playing Life because the healing spells can make an outnumbered battle an easy win. Also even if you lose a lot of creatures resurection will bring many of them back. Therefore, you don't lose your whole army if you need to go into a very difficult battle.

It seems the consensus on this issue is that the Necropolis is the superior town, and I have to admit I've enjoyed playing the Necropolis, though I tend to use my devils to summon ice demons on the first round (rather than taking out a hero), but I prefer playing the Asylum.
Here's why: They begin with a missle creature (the orc) at first level. The thief class becomes a strong missle unit when it learns some combat, specifically archery, and becomes a ranger. The chaos "rogue's guild" provides the crossbow, immediately negating range penalties for you heroes. Chaos magic, of course, is the best for dealing out raw damage. The Asylum's 3rd lvl. creature, the nightmare, is a sturdy (and large--better blocking ability) front-line unit to stand there and guard your missle units. Plus, they're not just useless standing there. They can cast "terror," which takes out most opponents for one or more rounds. Finally, the black dragon is (as in h3) the most powerful unit in the game, still completely resistant to all magic, and death to its enemies.
For my money, the Asylum is hard to beat, but there is one thing that bothers me about playing the asylum. On the combat screen, the sorceress icon takes off her wig occasionally to scratch her bald head. That's annoying and unnecessary, imho.
