Poll Question:
Lord Of The Rings or Harry Potter?
Hello Everyone, here's a new poll.
In the movie and book industry there is a war that goes on in fantasy.
The two sides are as follows: Lord Of The Rings vs. Harry Potter.
So, from the two, which one do you prefer?

Harry Potter is yucky!! I like Lord of the rings BUTTTT it strays from the books too much!

Lord of the Rings is sooo much better! Harry potter is nothing but a below average book for kids with a pointless plot that leads nowhere and a whole bunch of flat characters that, if they were to be used in a story written for a grade 9 english class, would have scored a nice C-. Lord of the Rings on the other hand (though it's not my favorite fantasy novel) has some of the most complex characters ever invented or written about, as well as a great plot that makes you think about real life.
That was about the books, now as for the movies...
Lord of the rings is a good movie, one of the best I have seen. It's way above the average movies (I think everyone will agree on that) but it's nothing compared to the book.
Harry Potter, on the other hand, is not a horrible movie and I think it is as good as the book or maybe even better.

I haven't read Harry Potter books but movie was surprisingly entertaining for me.
On the other hand I was slightly dissapointed with FOTR the movie but overall enjoyed it, about same as HP.
So, in battle of movies it's a draw...
In battle of books, it isn't known...though I really, really doubt that HP could be better as I'm big fan of the LOTR books...
And just to say...in my little world Jedi beat hobbits/wizards butts everyday...

there is no comparison... LotR is clearly better than Harry Potthead ...as a book, it is one of the best out there... as a movie, though not that close to the book (not as much as i'd like anyway) it follows the legacy and stays close to the top... HP on the other hand (both movie(s) and book(s)) isn't even worth the time to spend to watch/read it... of course this is just my personal opinion... don't want to force anybody to choose between a classic and a movie with a target group of 10-13

they are targetted seperately. LOTR is serious and in depth whilst HP is sort of introduction to the genre. Many kids may never have read LOTR without either the movie, or starting on HP so I geuss they are both good in their own ways.
As for who's best for me? LOTR no doubt about it

err... what's wrong with Micky Mouse? 
I don't think it's a matter of choise, guys... ok, Harry Potter is childish, naive etc etc but comparing HP with LoTR is more naive and childish...
I mean, Clockwise Orange is the best movie ever made about violence... is that a reason to compare it with, lets say, a Schwarzenegger movie?
Besides, HP (book & film) is supposded to make you feel like a child... LoTR is a world itself, and it's suppossed to make you feel you are part of it...
But that's just my humble opinion...

With Harry Potter, the movie was much much better than the book.
With LoTR, although the movie was ok, it in no way matched up to the high standard of the book.
