I was naming another way by having two noobs go at it, & the coach supervises & gives pointers if he thinks there could of been a better move or point out mistakes etc?

You think it would be easiar if the player can see how he dies with a cartography on a one on one?

Mostly I meant one on one with a supervised vet out of the game.

Another idea an ally game, one vet & one noob on a team & vice versa & that can be fun & a treat for the noobs?

lol... U still don't get it.

Vet stays on the island, market disabled, and is set ally with the newbie. Vet(s) stay(s) out of the game, and can see and supervise the newbie.

Clear now?

Thats what I meant but I understand now, you meant as allies & I was saying he can supervise from afar & just watch with con.
I think your way may be better.

i just wonder what stivens comments has to do with topic?
its nothing but spamming in a thread that should contain serious stuff about a tournament!

shouldnt his post be removed for irrelevant issue?

or is this a different situation from the other thread where we didnt know the person ?

makes me wonder why we seperate!

I'm sure when AndiAngelslayer arrives in this thread, he'll say the same thing to Stiven he said to me in the Who is the best H3 player ever? thread. After all, he's a pretty fair and consistent person.

Of course, Aculias decided to ignore it; or perhaps he's just waiting for Andi to show up. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

On a more serious note, i dont think many of the veterans read this and i also reckognize that you should add a list of the names you have gotten. Because once the vets here have seen which other vets that has signed up they will get more competetive and hopefully sign up themselves.

But with no list some people might think twice over this since they dont know which other persons thats in.
So:
* Add a list
* Go on a commercial frenzy for this in zone and other places, make a link here from MAH page unless there already is one and so on. Heck, make this page a pop up window every time you open the MAH site...all publicity is good publicity...so there

Just some suggestions

ok i just brainstormed a bit and think i found a good kind of tourney for newbies which also is supposed to help em to improve.we had a similar tourney a while ago in the german league iniciated by xarfax1 and.

only newbies will be allowed to start in this tourney. and if any veteran is playing in it "undercover" he should be booted out of TOH.

the idea is as following: all newbies who register and start in this tourney will get a Veteran-coach. this coach has to practice with this newbie during the complete tourney and tell himm all the little things which could help him to become a kickass player . i think if the newbie wins the tourney or reached the finals his personal coach should get an award too

but before i work out a page/detailed rules for such a "coaching tournament" i have to know if there are enuff veterans outhere who would take a bit of time to coach someone else so please reply here if u wanna support us and you think you can teach a newbie a few tricks

Motorschaaf

P.S.:  with this post i offer to coach someone in this tourney - i hope more will follow

I still think this is a GREAT idea..
Altho it's been tried by ToH and B@stards and failed miserably..

adhoc noobfest

i quite like the acu's idea of a "god" veteran advising both players, only need one vet to sit there, and can keep occupied instructing both players. Of course the vet would not tell the players where their opponent is.

Make an approved list of willing veterans that noob pick from on the day. The 2 noobs agree to a battle then ask an "approved" veteran who just happens to be in zone at the time to generate map and sit in on their game. No planning of GMT hours to get online etc. I tell ya no vet is gonna sit around for hours waiting for a noob to arrive 2hrs late, to then sit in on his game for another 4hrs. The adhoc way means ANY veteran can host ANY game between ANY registered noobfest player

Also...

I could modify a template so u can make a random map with an isolated tower town, then vet would edit the generated map to put in a grail in the tower that has no road from it.

well, i agree with that other noob further up that this been tried b4, and at the start every1 say "yeah, great idea, lets do it" but it just dont happen. i been waiting 8 months to get my match played in the Traning Grounds@bastards and i'ma still waiting. infact i dont think any of the games got played lol.

and to b honest, i dont think most vets wanna hang around in a game and watch 2 noobs fighting with handbags, most of them that r around on the zone these days have more important things to do, like getting some points

I think this may be a VERY good answer. Especially to the whole scheduling problem. That and some people (like me,hehe) would love to participate on the NooB side but don't really know when they will and will not be able to play. This way is less set up and could be run on more of a points system. Noob 1 (winner) gets # pts, Noob 2 (loser) gets # pts, Patient Vet gets # pts. So for the vets it would really be more of a participation thing. They would get more points based on how many noob games they were willing to sit through. The other advantage that this might have for the NooBs is, if they get different coaches each time they will learn lots of different styles. I know the players that have spent time playing either against me or with me have taught me a great deal and have given me a variety of different tips.

Especially to have a good clans tourney & so Vets can have more of a challenge this would work great I think.

Like I was saying a yr ago like when i was sitting watching Andi & Casterateds game for a tourney the vet can take my place while two noobs play & then you can point out some great pointers like "you should of hired 3 more scouts to search for resources or you can actually beat these creatures if you split your creatures etc.

I know alot of vets here want the challenge so this can work if great players (dont have to be vets) would love to take the time to teach them, not to learn the hard way like I have hehe.
