'sucky' players extinct as time goes by
only hardcore players are active and most of them are good+

you also forget that holder of each sheild is in same ranking level with challengers

also..

if the guy stays stagnant on the shield, well, the deadline approaches.  And he loses it.  Tonights update will reflect this on one shieldholder, and then it will be an empty slot for another player to take.

I agree with Jinxer 100% about having a shield means finally being able to play, uhh, 'better' maps.  (Maps I have more fun on.)

Which is why I am saddened that 1 map I want to use is still unbalanced, and that another is not a toh map.

And Blue Camel, you need to play more if you think the shield holders are that dishonourable.

bah - im not a big online player or anything but that is obviously stupid... the shield holder will only play the sucky people who challenge him, and not the good ones.  How dumb.

Blue Camel this is incorrect.  I bet the shield hold would play anyone as long as the opponent agrees to his terms.  The complaint here is most of the GOOG players are refusing to play by shield holders settings, either because it strays from there comfort zone, or they just cant win unless conditions are perfect for there playing style.  So it is a bit presumptious to claim that.  Just my opinion.

well, obviously most people are honorable, but it doesnt take many people doing that to ruin it.  hopefully, of course, this will not happen.  but it could.  And ves, i wasnt saying they wouldnt play, i was saying they would "selectively" play.  Meaning they would play the easiest challengers only.  and just because i dont play that much (ok, i would play lots if i had cable... but with data transfer as it is i can only play people close to me in US or the data transfers make it unplayable) doesn't make it impossible for me to be right.  I think the shield-holder should play the very first legit challenge they get (legit = can agree on time to play, and meets requirements)

also... who would you rather play, shake (25-6 record) or camoes (14-27)... I think you would rather play camoes if you want to win and keep the shield.  but both are barons, no???  Both guys challenge the shieldholder, but the shieldholder picks to play camoes and not shake.
This is what i mean about selective play.

Cheers,
BC

camoes will rise angry if he has time to read.
anyway, taking in consideration only the record (i mean reading ONLY the numbers shown) it's not the best jugdement in choosing player, if any discriminations present

as a conclusion , you may have some surprises, if you rush..

Blue Camel:
I know exactly what you mean by selective play.  I've only been here for 3-4 seasons.

And yes, some people do that, but many don't.  You're insulting many people (myself as well) when you say:  "the shield holder will only play the sucky people who challenge him, and not the good ones."

I'm currently playing Jinxer for my shield, with Japjer, Sudden_Death, Brave Heart, Targan, and Redgriffin20 (as a maybe after that.)  I have yet to turn someone down who has approached me, although on some we are still debating maps.  I'm just not sure why I need your approval on who I play or don't play though?

And yes, like everything else, abuse can and will happen in a system.  But don't blame the system because some people are jerks.

If a player does what you describe, word will get out and they'll suffer the consequences.  That's the way it works, now and before.

Edited to change a bit of how it was written. What great grammar I have. ;p  Oh, and man, I sure talk to much.  Don't take it personally Blue Camel.
