Forfeited Clan Wars
Would it make sense to have 5 people per clan and play only one round, 3 out of 5 wins the war? Do you think this might reduce the amount of forfeited wars by eliminating the need for a second round? I know that there are a lot of people getting very sick of hours upon hours of play, only to disappear completely by a forfeited war.

this is how vandea (www.vandea.com/clans) works - 3 members so whichever clan wins 2 games wins

Actually forefits have been rather low as of late, people have 'shaped up' and avoid forefiting clans. The forefit rate of clans is about 8-10% now. (still rather high in my opinion, but not serious either)

That may be the case, but I have been in a clan for many months now, and we have only completed one clan war. We couldn't be the only clan having this problem.

i never beleived clan tourn will be active enough to be fun
but this is too much!..dedlines are on 3 weeks, and players STILL dont do their games..make it 5 months, and they still wont play!
my next war will be 5 weeks dedline,,i freakin mean it!
who fails to play game is instantly OUT of clan(even if opponents fault) and opponent who forefits is instantly IN my ignore list.
whats fun with no fun!?

and dont dare reply about RL chit!
its 21 freakin days for a game,if cant handle it, leave the room..

Dont let it go to your head Valk. Clan Leader cant make them play. I e-mail my members, and still sometimes they cant get ahold of there opponents, and sometimes they just dont make effort to play.
Forexample I have made 2 appts with werewolf and both times now he has either no showed or was late. Did he misunderstand timezones? Did he jsut get busy with other things? Who knows..but point is deadline is in 1 day and we have a full game to play on UTB.
**** IMO there shouldnt be anydeadlines. Let the leaders truely make sure they get finished. If it takes 3 months to get a war done, then it only hurts that clan because they arent making progress. But once you win 2/4 clan war games then have war forfieted, it gets no fun and clans get even more discouraged. So why not just make NO deadlines. If clan leaders cannot get the players to play then the leaders themselves can agree to disband the war and start kicking members off clan and replace them etc.

Jinx, I thought about instituting a "no deadline" rule for the Clans of Vandea Tournament, but I'm not sure that's workable, either. What happens when a clan has lost most of their games in a given war? Then they have incentive to not finish, and they can legitimately stall with a long list of RL excuses why they couldn't finish the war. The only recourse available to the offended party is to bad-mouth their opponents for being dishonorable. Without deadlines, even badmouthing is suspect. The person who couldn't complete his or her game can just go online and list all the excuses why he or she couldn't play. With a deadline, however, that list of excuses become suspect. The offended party can call BS because the person who was stalling knew when the game needed to be completed, and unless that person made an effort to repeatedly contact his or her opponent and re-schedule when these RL calamities came up, it's easy to identify someone who's just stalling because they're afraid of losing.
Nobody can make people play this game, but deadlines are necessary, I think, to encourage clans that are losing wars to actually finish them once they've started.

I do agree with your thinking Laelth however, take TOH forexample. The deadlines dont solve avoiders, he just penalizes the clan that is making efforts to play etc. My point is.... if a player is avoiding to play and deadline comes, the Ves double forfiets or gives one a forfiet and other a pass, but then only gives HALF points and prestige to winning clan.
Maybe making a small clan council lol. With members that are willing to help arbitrate when a player is avoiding and when 2 players legitamately cant meet and need more time. Clans would work great if every member lived in same time zone and all had NO real life etc.
I kinda liked the idea of having 5 member clans and first 3 wins in round 1 wins war. That would also solve the issue of 3 of the members losing in round 1 and 1 great player winning the next 3 rounds. Basically the clan only becomes the one great player. If ya get my point.

EDIT -- also why not allow that if both clan leaders agree that there can be extentions etc. If they agree 2 week extention then after 2 weeks still not played and one of clan leaders dont agree to extend again then it can end etc. just some thoughts

like in vandea best out of three wins gives the less skilled clan an advance also which is good.

I am sure Mike your very honerable just Like Vex in heroes 3 but when it comes to responsibility you still lack it

I know both u guys, just from different versions of heroes.
Both I would play anytime and say u are straight up heroes fans.
Acu, Mike is a good guy and by the sound of it, even if u were able to get together, can u even run h4?
I think u don't know him and that h4 bastard tourney never has gone anywhere, give him a break
I know it sounds like u had a bad experience long ago. mebe try again

I was trying to loosen him up a bit so he wont be so boring on the HC thats all hehe.
Dont get me wrong it did happen but i let it go long ago.
