Mountain climbing, swimming, ect

Its in or its out, map editors choice.
If you played old MMs you'd remember the skills.
Command the fleet through forests, mountains, and waters.
It may be an alright addition, and added several different ways.

*~It could be one prime skill "Offlanding" for example.
*~Could be parts of the Logistics (if skills are done like Homm4)
*~Another way is purchasing a different type of steed. INstead of the one giving + 6 to army movement, it would give the ability to walk over multi terrain/offland enviroments.

In any case, why not? =\
If it's up to the mapmaker to utilize it or not, why not enable it?
It sure would add a bit more for mapmaking. It would give cutting edges to strive for. It would make kings and such more powerful and threatning.

Hmm... Is HoMM turing into a pure RPG? I hope not...
Anyway, these skills should be enabled in a map editor. If you want those skills, you should be able to put them there for yourself.

hey, i think it would be interesting if you could crawl hills and cross rivers with your army, with some movement penalty of course. and you would have more freedom of move, really interacting with the map. the pathfinding skill could affect the penalty. I like the idea of weather effects too, they could be randomly generated and affect movement, scouting radius or even morale..
And i dont think this would make it more of an rpg, a proper strategy game should interact with the terain, especially in battles. maybe a few more obstacles, high and low ground that can block the line of sight, or even spells that create obstacles, in the same fashion as the quicksand spell. Even the weather effects could be introduced into battle, affecting range offence and/or morale.
well, the weather might get things too complicated, but would add to the atmosphere. but i think that the terain should interact with the army much more, a must for heroes5 in my opinion. i wonder what you people think

Not everything. I'm definitly into making the interaction between terrain and armies tighter. I mean, imagine two armies of heavy cavalry trying to fight a battle in a swamp... One single hydra would own them all. Not to mention the hard time flying creatures would experience. Trees everywhere, water, hardly a useful combat unit at all. Then, on open grassland, the Hydras would still be gigantic monsters, but due to bodyweight their lack of mobility will fill them with arrows alt. they will fall as the first cavalry wave ride 'em down. They won't even know what hit them: "Hmm, that's odd, I can't remember the earth shaking when we fought knights in the swamp..."

Now that I think of it.. No matter what when swimming across river, the creatures/hero must be on land at the end of a turn. I dont care how skilled they are, no one can swim for more than a day.

Besides water based creatures.. I would see water elementals and mermaids walking on land and swimming in water all together evenly. The creatures themselves would have the ability to swim far (to secret or legendary treasures).

This saying they would have to swim along (unless hero had artifact) and be powerful if there is a massive threat amongst the sea.
