Poll Question:
What Style of Play Fits you Best

It is one of my weak points of play, But I enjoy clearing a map out (hate to miss out on goodies) and not taking advantage of better building, or great couple arties and powerful magic early in game. It makes for longer games with the Big Battle late in game. But I have fun and guess I dont have enuf Killer Instinct in the game. Wanted to see how the rest of U feel about your own style of Play

Responses:
I will play the map out no matter my advantage
I somtimes "go for the throat" when I can
I will try to kill opponent asap If I think I have advantage
I try to get combinations (exp. soly pendant negativity) exclusivly to kill opponent

It was really refreshing to here those comments Zud. It has long since been a weakness of mine that i try to work on. I will continue to procrastinate going for the kill because there are still items to be had and fights to be fought. It is almost like I am playing a game with myself to see how high I can get my stats.

I have accepted the fact that it is a weakness and now try to go for the kill when it is first availible. With each loss I have endured I could look back and say 'I should have moved in then.'

These heroes die when the game ends anyway so why should I care if they get to level 25 victim or a level 5 king. After all isn't that the point of the game?

-Mocara

P.S. If I'm playing someone really cool then I hate rushing them as I want the game to go on forever.

I think "style op play" is determined by arts, towns and heroes in the specific games and therefore different from game to game.

Nice to see a subject involving the GAME of heroes

Hehe, I don't know how many times I have lost because I insist on clearing the whole map before I attack my opponent. I almost feel like its an obligation to clear map.Lol people usually can just walk into my castle becuase I'm busy collecting stuff (a weakness for sure)

I play like rolipoli i think.  i like to play and have adventure i dont care to rush immediately and get all fast about it.  but thats probably why i keep losing.  rob says to go for the throat but im not into it or when i do it its badly timed and i lose my main hero when i thought i was doing good.

things that make u nervous...

I might have a really good build and it is early week 3 and I know where the opponent is (on a random map - my preference) but I will still be a bit nervous about attacking if I am only a lvl 4 hero and my best attacking spell is a magic arrow.

However if I pick up a scroll of meteor shower, that may be enough to make me go straight for his town, even if my stats are worse than his. So 2 out of 3 is enough (the 3 being army size, stats, magic spells) to make me confident of an attack.

If u tried to clear everything out on an XL random it would be a 12 week game. But hey, I look at the state of my room and see that I'm obviously more comfortable with chaos than closure!

hmmmmm

well i love to clear all of the map.....but if i do so depends on the style of game my opponent plays, what arts are there and so on......so i have to admit sometimes i go for the throat.....i think i hate the really perfect  short game - like attack on day5 week2, day 1 week3 or sumthin without time to clear anything than the necessary on a map...

Personally, the style of play depends on whom I am playing. If it is my best bud, then I will play with no worries, just kickin back, playin a game even if it is for toh or whatever. Unless i know he likes to go for the throat every time...

Although I have a weakness for the female gender... I tend to play easier (not go for the throat) for some reason... even if I know they can beat my arse. (Except for Pandora, I play with my all but she still beats me with ease...I am afraid of her hehe)

I'm very similar rare...inasmuch as I like to "get everything" b4 the main btl. It is a weakness in strategy, and Iprolly need more killer instinct, but often I get torn between "should I attack now? or go for the griffin conservatory that is 5 turns away". I should attack, and forget the angels but I dontMaybe its more fun trying to pluck maybe 4 angels out of nothing....but thats it isnt it? FUN!!

Anfi has a weakness?

LOL, Anfi you do have a weakness for girls! And you Ryche, I think you're just like anfi! Sometimes you can be very cutthroat in your tactics especially when you know victory is pretty much assured, but the stuffing around when the other player is floundering is a painful way to win a game. hell, if you can end it, END it, the result is still the same and people (especially me, lol) don't like having to sit for a few extra hours at a game that they know they've got no hope of winning. But you never know, the show isn't over until the fat man farts (LOL) and going for the throat is sometimes the worst thing you could ever do...

And as for you, Anfi, next time we play, you're going to regret having any soft spots...

*smile*

I guess I'm a mixed bag...

Offline, I gernally go for the large army and huge games by online standards (or so I think). Around 4 or 5 months. However, I believe that online players would whomp me with that tactic so I'm not sure. I think I would go the kill in online mode, but I have never been able to finish a game yet.

Rusher

I'm a newbie but I don't have those weaknesses that you guys have mentioned. As soon as I receive troops on the first day of the week, I try to take over a town(s) b4 he/she can buy more troops. If fighting to get an art means losing troops and time, I don't go for it.
I do have another weakness, a terrible one. My concentration drops when I don't need to care about gathering resources. This means I don't care about the game any more, all I want is to start another game
This is also why I want heroes4 to have exhaust able mines.

I like to stay to myself for the first couple of weeks.  Then when my main hero gets a massive army, lots of arts, and very good skills.  I go and crush my enemies.

well since i been involved in tourney play, there seems to b only 1 way to play game if u want the win, and is att asap no matter what, everything down to speed from hero and skills to clearing. infact i even look at maps much different now, i know i dont need to hit all power ups with main or even clear whole maps, i will hit a block or garrison on a fixed map as soon as i know i can beat it.

i remember a game with warbringerx in a sub tourney playing "hero style h3", he was castle and had tyris i think, i was fortress and had andra, map had a block of horde of choas hydras, we had both played map b4 and was generally a wk 5 break or, if u doing well and had res scroll wk 4, but i hit the block wk 3 without res scroll lol, my stats not that great but plenty of mana and mass slow and blind i figured i could do it lol. well i did break through with very little losses BUT it did take 45 mins in turn LMAO through out which warx kept telling he wouldnt give reload if i died for having too damm long a turn hahahaaha
