Poll Question: MULTIPLAYER ACCELERATION IDEIA
Sorry, i´m new at Heroes Community and i´m not sure where to post my wish for Heroes 5. Maybe someone can help me. Well, let´s try here...
I think that the best thing in any game is a multiplayer match. And the most boring thing about heroes multiplayer is the long time you have to wait for other player´s turns.
So, my ideia is to create a "execution list". It´s a list of actions that can be created and edited any time. So at your turn you just click an execution button to execute all of then. I know that a player may want to modify many of those actions, cause sometimes is hard to preview another player´s actions in a multiplayer game, so you must edit the "list" before execute it.
I think this ideia can accelerate many times the speed of a multiplayer match, cause all actions are pre-programmed out of it´s creator´s turn!

Sounds like you need a good game of tetris on level 10 between turns. Find something else to do between turns. Like post here or just think about next turn. It's never been boring for me. I used to play racing game on Playstation 2 during Heroes games online. Gran Turismo 3! Oh yeah.

I used to play Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO, but as of 8/25/2003, I will be playing F-Zero GX. Usually I don't get very far pausing every ten minutes. It may seem like a long time when you've nothing to do, but when you're in an intense, heated battle with Ryu on the highest difficulty; it goes by like a flash.

a good book, preferrably by terry pratchett so as to capture your attention immediately, solves the inbetween-turns-boredom problem to the extent that you'll be begging for your opponent to take all the time he wants.
but 3 player hot seat with alliance negotiations or threatening sessions when not playing is best yet.
acceleration idea works as long as the players are so far they dont see each other and will not in the next turn.

well this idea is not new i do agree with it, it would be nice.
at the beggining of you turn it would say something to the line of "proceed with queued tasks" this way your men would all move to their first destination. or units that had 4 days travel time, would just go automaticly without spending the quater second to hit the move button.
i would also like to have real time trading in the marketplace. on multi games.
I am a fan of the queued tasks idea, especially if youhave like 6 castles and you need to build something in all of them. it would let you micromanage and still alow for a quick game.

the problem is that it's all too complicated and it doesn't work too well.
maybe if the sight range of a hero should be greater than the distance he could travel, or he could hear footsteps of armies moving (the earth thing).
so if the opponent army is not moving, your hero will not get a good warning before it's too late, if he is travelling in a landscape that restricts view. also, things like towns and mines and sawmills etc that make a lot of noise might disturb this perception.
this might be an idea for ambushes, but what i really meant was that the warning you get that someone is moving nearby would otherways be artificial or would even feel like cheating without a good enough reasoning.
and again, there would be the problem that when you move, the opponent isn't actually moving. if the moves were pre-planned and the all players would move simultaneously, it might work better.
========
ok, and now a rant:
of course actually you would have to send a scout back to the capitol where the player is, asking what to do next, lol. the player should only make laws and assign taxes and negociate with ambassadors and order generals to conquer some town, without ever seeing the battle, not even talking about controlling the movements of creatures in a battle. unless he is travelling with the army, of course (there's only one embodyment of the player, there should be 'loose hero' condition, and the player can be present in only one army), while leaving his home affairs in the hands of a governor (so he doesn't exactly see what's going on in the town).
lol, so i guess in this case it would be better if those heroes would be real players that you trust, so that they could more or less act on their own. but in this case the game would turn into a relatively hardcore rpg. and i guess it could be realtime.
the strategy would be about coordinating the generals (that are other players), based on the news that the scouts bring, but it will not be easy to make it work in internet, because people will try to start to communicate e.g. by icq.
