Maybe you are right, not sure.
Personally I use mostly Paint.NET(free) and absolutely satisified with it.

I made it myself btw. Toning the brightness down shouldn't be a problem, but I can't say it hurts my eyes.
Also, the file size is way too big for HC but this is just something I did in 5 minutes.
