It's common when the process of modification is simplified, the overall quality of mods falls down and it becomes hard to find a true jewel from the pile of trash.

Macron, everyone is aware about your priority for quantity, not quality. But not everyone has the same opinion. The work must be worth someone's while.

Actually Maestro's work is always worth someone's while... because he does have the skills which not everyone can handle. Unfortunately, not all of the people, ahem, are so skilled.

You sir have a very twisted understanding of what is quality I must say.

You know, people also have life apart from Heroes 3 modding. Calling someone lazy just because he doesn't have time for making a new town is like calling you lazy because you don't have time to learn how to do 3D graphics.

Quality isn't something that should be considered as mythical. There indeed are things that are very well made, e.g. Heroes 3 itself. Why are you obsessed with denying it?

And why do I even bother...

i feel sad that i didn't get a chance to see this mod while it was in the making. his 3d work for mm that i can find, is quite good.

Try searching for some still-alive content here, it's a russian forum with subforums dedicated to the Drow town.

Also, feel free to check MM8,5, the current Maestro's MM project.

hey, thanks, man.

i've known about his mm work for more than a month now, i just couldn't find anything h3-related. never thought of looking for his work on that forum, though. i keep finding that people who are involved in h3 are all over the place, and have been for years.

Also, there are some of his works batched. Follow the link.

mmgames.ru

There you can find the defs for the Drow and other stuff.

Watch out for Macron though - pretty sure he will take the concepts, regardless if they are original or ripped from another game, and mix them in another eyebursting VCMI town which no one will try.

thanks. i just realized that i already have all of his drow creatures; indeed, i have all of his h3-released work(and have had it for a year or so)... all except the spider-riders(the only thing i haven't seen).

and, i laughed out loud at "eyebursting". i'll have to use that phrase more often.

EDIT: looked thru all of the threads in the forum you linked. no spider-riders anywhere. the closest thing were the "driders", and they weren't available. all of the pics are dead(why didn't anyone post using an image site that they still use, ffs?). going to a website and finding nothing but "x" boxes where pictures should be, and dead links, is ****ing annoying.

no matter. i already found what i needed to make my own spider-riders earlier today, as well as hellhound- or cereberus-riders, for inferno. lizards or dinosaur-riders for fortress, as well.

I'm lazy to learn 3d graphics, cause now I already have overload with 2D.
And new towns don't require any 3d graphics at all.
You can create town from some game resources. Or you can make it from photos of buildings (like Romanian Town does). There is no need of 3d modelling at all.
It's not a time that prevented people from DF2 (for example) to do any town. Nosferatu had several years to work on Monolith, yet there is only 1 creature and bad townscreen sketches. Yet he draws some artwork instead of working on town and waits for a sorcerer to appear and to make him town graphics. He already tried to give Monolith work to HOTA crew.
It's a problem of most town creators - they propose idea and wait for some good mage to appear and help them.
Santa Claus is not coming altrough.
Quality is mystical, because every man has it's subjective sence of quality or what to call product. If quality was not mystical, there would be no bad games or movies.

Reality proves this is not so. of cause, 3d is good, but absolutely not needed.

Romanian Town, Grove Town were made without any 3d. I am not talking about VCMI fan mods like Christmas Town, Abode, so on.

Oh, come on. Their buildings have uneven edges and they don't fit with the gamma and each other. It was a nice try, but no.

Not all want to play some ideal towns. Some like to play towns existing.
If you want to add some faction, you make town from what you have and play it. It's not a contest "who will better render something". Heroes is not Crysis, it's strategy, not some glamour snow.

PS By the way, you are working on Lords of Magic. Is scale of their units are much smaller than Heroes 3? Or some units can be converted to HMM3?

Lords of Magic is an isometric strategy game. Its units won't fit to HMM due to the wrong foreshortening, not talking about the gamma. I am totally sure you lack the skills to convert these units properly, according to what I see in your projects.

I don't know about the huge variety of crappy towns. I wouldn't puddle my hands and put a shame on the game I love. Either you do it good, or go away from your computer and spend your free time on something useful for the society, like street cleaning or helping the poor. It's more honorable.

Speaking about the Romanian Town, a good skill in Photoshop and perhaps pixel art can solve the situation, if that guy has a right feeling what functions to use. Otherwise he will be improving it forever and still not pleased with the results.

Lol, where you have seen my projects? I didn't shown any of my projects. Only one screenshot of Limes was.
Another telepathy argument will only make me laugh.
I asked about size. Are these units much smaller than HMM3 units? That's all, i didn't ask you about my skills or some snow about gamma.

I will do what i decide to do. If you don't like my works you can go and clean streets or help the poor by yourself. Practise what you preach.

Limes and manifold credits by Polish 'townmakers' were enough.
Good luck in the harsh world of Heroes of Might and Magic modding. You'll need it
