Just teasing you Adrian, besides you haven't done your homework on this to have an educated opinion. Also nagas doesn't equal a lineup of multi-armed half-snake people and there is nothing simple about them. If you do some reading you'll see.

because this is drawn by the same guy that did the concept art of the vampire, ghoul, juggernaut and old pit fiend that hasn't made it (the pic is in artwork thread) and got replaced by the former pit fiend

The artwork Paiazza posted looks amazing, the question is, would aliens really suit a HOMM game in the first place? Besides if there was such a faction (I bet it would be great and interesting, but could potentially spoil the HOMM climate) I mean, they would use technologically advanced weapons, armour etc. and would the Hero get around the map in a spaceship?
It would be a bit like Forge in the out-of-place aspect, but undoubtedly interesting and fun to play with. Of course, something like this is very unlikely to happen...

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic", and we have plenty of magic swords and shields, and things which look tike they fire plasma beams or other energy weapons.

Maybe it's not the whole race, just a survey ship that accidentally crashed, stranding them here.
I want to see one of these, at least see how it works out.

I don't want sci-fi in my fantasy game, but some ideas from MTG could be brought in place of the Forge. For example, blue color has memnarchs, which look a little robotic, but in reality are about magic, not fuel and gears.

Don't get your hopes up just yet guys.
That the Naga are mentioned means nothing. Naga have been part of the lore since the beginning. The Wizards of Academy also get mentioned left and right, yet they're sitting on the sidelines this installment. So the references don't have to mean anything.

It indeed does not confirm that they are the 5th faction, but they are clearly in the game, it's obvious they summon the dragon eel and are holding mother namtaru.
Academy is mentioned because Necropolis comes from them, but they might not appear in the game at all, since the game does not focus on Necropolis growing, but on the story of 5 siblings, so they can afford ignoring wizards, at least for now.
