"It's being taken care of at least. I presume that you will do what's best for these troublemakers, doc. But I would suggest to leave them tied down for a while to teach them a lesson." Eduardo said.
He looked around and saw that the guncrew was finished drinking.
"Alright compaņeros, we're going back. You weren't finished cleaning those cannons. And I am a man of my word, those that finish first will still get that drink I promised." Eduardo said in a raised voice. He gave Geralt a mock salute and ushered the guncrew down to the gundeck.

As Willhelm stood at the helm focusing on keeping the ship steady he couldn't fail to see the signs of future calamity, as a ferocious and furious raid chief rushed to the brig with his knife drawn and followed by two others. When the first-mate and that big lizard of his hurried to the brig minutes later Willhelm forbode trouble, and with trouble comes unrest and mutiny. And sure as h#ll, just a gew more minutes he heard the entire gundeck emptying as they made their way to the brig probably to put down the troublemakers. And it was when it all had seemed to quiet down when:
- YOU MORONS! DIDN'T YOU SAW HIM?! Someone shouted from the the brig and Willhelm feared further escalating of the allredy growing unrest.

Simon hadn't cared that they had tied him up. He was too tired to care. He had muttered "Easy" when they had pulled a little too tightly, and they had loosened the ropes a little. He heard some of the crew talk about dead crewmen and silently swore to himself. "I wanted to keep anyone from dieing. If only Nurgunnen could control himself... Maybe if he hadn't gone after Alaric..."

Simon drifted into a dreamless sleep, leaving Lianna to find him tied to the post.

Arcturus walked out from his cabin to the scene. By that time Nurgunnen and his men were conscious and yelling.

"What happened!?" he yelled, silencing all.
"Captain! I was stemming my anger against the prisoner instead of our good crewmen when Simon, that miscreant attacked me and my men!" replied Nurgunnen. "The guard standing outside came in to assist me and subdue him. That good for nothing scale hide, Kalthak, came in with your first-mate and killed him. Davaian was standing over me, about to kill me, when I came to and defended myself. Next thing I know, the new Gunchief has everyone tied up in a mess!"

Arcturus nodded and said, "Davaian, Kalthak, and Simon will be sent to the brig for the remainder of the month along with Alaric. Eduardo did the right thing, however. He was a good person to bring aboard. Nurgunnen, get the doctor to fix you up, then report to me later. Hervin, did you record this?"

"Ah...yes sir!" replied Hervin. "I'm just not sure that this is exactly fair. Perhaps you should hear the others out?"

"Do it, quartermaster."

"Uhh...yes sir..."

Jarod crawled back up into the crows nest. He had been visiting Simon, Alaric, Davian and Kalthak illegally for a few days now, and had finally done something even worse.

He had given Simon his block of wood, nearly finished flute and his stolen knife.

"Oh gods." He muttered to himself. "If Simon hadn't told me about his secret passage..." Jarod shuddered a little bit. He didn't like the brig, and Arcturus liked putting him in there for no reason sometimes. How long would Jarod be gone if the captain knew about this?

No, no one would ever tell that it had been him. Jarod fell into a troubled sleep, once again it was filled with strange dreams of a place that couldn't exist, but somehow it did. Jarod could just feel it.

------------------------------------------------------------

Simon finished carving the flute completely. He was still partially drained from his experience a few days ago and could barely keep his eyes open. But he didn't allow himself to sleep yet, there was still something missing.

Simon took out two of the broken strings from his lute and threaded them into the instrument, finishing it completely. "I hope Lianna likes this." He muttered to himself. ((Quick question... Where is Lianna? I haven't seen her for a while, and she is still your character Berney.))

Pulling out one of the boards in his cell, Simon hid the flute, knife and wood in the small vault he had made. It also held a quill pen and ink that sat next to his journal. He made a few quick scratches in it before whispering to Davian, "Hey, have you started that book I gave you yet?"

"Nah, its still on my hammock." replied Davaian. "I haven't had a chance to get it. Once I get out probably still won't. I'll be too busy trying to get us out of this mess with Arcturus and Nurgunnen."

Meanwhile on deck. Geralt was outside taking a break from his studies and Eduardo was done drilling for the moment. The captain was inside, no doubt perusing the pages of the journal while Bellerusse and Wilhelm were making sure the ship was on its correct course. Lianna had been trying to go see Simon for days, but she had always been set off to do some other duty or another by Nurgunnen so as to keep her away from him. However, this day she had enough of it and was going to ignore Nurgunnen's orders and visit Simon.

"What?!" said Nurgunnen to Lianna. He slapped her across the face, knocking her down to the floor of the deck. "HOW DARE YOU QUESTION MY ORDERS AND ABANDON YOUR DUTIES! NOW GET BACK TO SCRUBBING THOSE POTS!"

Lianna got back up and said, "With all due respect, SIR, those pots are already cleaned up. I have done every single other little job you have ordered me to. Now let me into the brig."

"Well do it again, you elven wh0re." replied Nurgunnen nastily.

Lianna scowled and said, "NO! I'm tired of your sh!t, Nurgunnen. I'm going."

Lianna strode away past Nurgunnen, when his large arms grabbed her waist and flung her down onto the deck. By this time a relatively sizable amount of the crew were gathering around, watching the encounter. Before Lianna could do anything, Nurgunnen pinned her down, immobilizing her. He then lewdly felt her and ripped her clothes off. Before they knew it, the crew was watching Nurgunnen rape Lianna brutally.

"Oh, I've been waiting for this for a long time, you elf b!tch!" yelled out Nurgunnen as he kept up raping her.

Jarod was out of the crows nest almost immediately. He ran to the nearest officer, who happened to be Eduardo, and panted out, "Nurgunnen... He- he's raping Lianna. Oh, please... I can't do anything... I-I..."

-----------------------------------------------------

Simon heard a disturbance going on above him. He heard Nurgunnen's voice yelling out something. Simon procured a set of lock pics from one of his hidden pockets.

"Davian. That madman is at it again." Simon fitted the pick in the cell's lock, trying it out. "You know what that means."

Alaric stirred in his cell.

Geralt took out  a syringe and approached Nurgunnen who was busy 'mating'. He injected the tranquilizer and threw him away from the elf girl. The raid chief was paralysed, but consious.
- Thank me that I haven't killed you. If this is to happen again I will cut off your pride and use it for fish bait.- Geralt played with the scalpel. - If you're not carefull, I'll slip the second toxin into your grog. Then we'll watch you as you wringle around like a worm from the excruciating pain that the poison give you. Untill you die six days after. - Geralt then kicked him in the face, knocking out some of the raid chief's teeth.
- This is for ruining my break- He said and started stuffing his pipe.
- Lianna, go clean yourself up and go feed Alaric. Then you and Kalthak come by my cabin. Scrap the last part- Geralt remembered that the Durok is inprisoned.- I'll call you when I'll need you.

Simon sprung the lock, opening the door to his cell. In the blink of an eye, his lock pick disappeared back into its pocket. He got the knife out of its safe and, on further consideration, pulled out the flute as well.

Might as well kill two birds with one stone, right?

He was about to leave when Lianna came into the Brig.

Willhelm's little chat with the navigator bellerusse, fine young fellow, about navigation and choosing the right course for the ship was interrupted as that bloody beast of a raid-chief showed such monstrocity beyond all evil. Not only did he beat the elf girl senseless, d@mn black-cat of the seas women, but he mercilessly raped the poor lass. And the crew just stood there watching without as much as informing the captain or some other officer. Luckily the doctor was a sensible person if not entirely sympathetic.
-Bellerusse, would you be so kind as to take the helm for a minute or two. Willhelm asked in a low, hard and ice-cold voice. It's not that hard and it won't be long. Thank you, your a fine person, a fine person indeed.

If Bellerusse had bothered to listen or look as he took the helm he would have seen the dangerous look in Willhelm's eye and the anger in his voice. Or the firmness in his steps and fingers.
But he didn't and instead a very determined and dangerous Willhelm was allowed to proceed to the deck and the paralyzed raid-chief with an increasingly speed of pace.
-Hey lass! Willhelm called carefully and in a low voice, but loud enough for the elf girl to hear it. When your down in the brig you might want to release the first-mate and that lizard friend of his. We're going to need them up here soon enough.
Lianna stopped turned around and looked at Willhelm in surprise, but after a quick and close examination of him swallowed and rushed to the brig as fast as she could. Willhelm didn't know much about the internal politics of the ship but at least he knew that the raid-chief were enemies of the first-mate and the lizard. Where the captain and the rest of the crew and officers stood, he didn't know but he would soon find out. Willhelm was about to make the biggest gamble of his life, and if he lost it would cost him his life.
-Hey there raid-chief. He called out as he reached empty the center of the ring. And as Nurgunnen looked up he pulled his gun aimed and fired, blasting Nurgunnen's brains to the deck. THAT WAS FOR THE GIRL YOU DEVIL'S SPAWN!!! He roared out enraged, loud enough to reach every deck and cabin on the ship.

With his helmet covering his eyes, Eduardo had decided to take a refreshing nap near the bow of the ship. When the shot rang, he bolted up fully awake and loosing his helmet. He assumed the ship was under attack.
"Guncrew! All hands to the cannons! Prepare to....fire?" Eduardo bellowed as he looked around. No enemy ships. Just a large portion of the crew assembled on the deck.
"Belay that order! What in the Name of the Elemental Gods happened here?!"
One of the members of the guncrew ran towards him and he accounted for the recent events. Over the last couple of days he had gotten to know the most of the guncrew. He had maked himself rather liked with most of them. He overheard one of the doubters say that he was a hard b@stard, but he was fair. It realy helped that Eduardo drank just as hard or even harder than his guncrew, he had switched to brandy soon enough, and had a ton of boastfull stories to tell. The only internal problem Eduardo had gotten into, was that Hervin was starting to notice that Eduardo called a random gundrill every time he had to do some actual sailing and excused himself.
After Eduardo had heard what transpired he decide to make the most of the situation.
"The seaswine got what he deserved," Eduardo said, keeping good to the habit of adding sea before everything even slightly insulting he said, "I hope Lianna will get over this."
Eduardo shouldered his way through the men to where the helmsman stood, his gun still in his hand expecting to be attacked.
Eduardo decided to take charge, consquences be damned.
"Willhelm, back to the helm and bring this bathtub to a full halt! Shreaveport, Hemlock and Finnly go down to the hold and get some nets! Jollan, here's the key to the powderroom. Get a couple of grenades! Blancaster en Tranche, give me a hand with him. This seaswine is going to be of some actual use today. We're using him for chum and we're eating good tonight." Eduardo, Blancaster and Tranche began dragging the body of Nurgunnen to the rail.

The Captain heard the gunshots and went outside. The crew silenced and stopped what they were doing. In the middle of the entire scene was Nurgunnen with his brains spread out all across the deck.

"What in the bloody hell happened here!? Who is responsible for this!?" he yelled.

Hervin came up and said, "Uhh, well sir. Nurgunnen and Lianna seemed to have some sort of disagreement, and well it escalated, and ummm...Nurgunnen raped her. The good doctor came over and injected something into him, which must've paralyzed him or something. Then the helmsman, Wilhelm, came up and killed him. Eduardo is now trying to salvage the situation. That is all."

Arcturus exasperated and then said, "Wilhelm, you are confined to the brig until you are needed for the trip into the Maelstrom. Geralt, though your methods are effective and your intentions may be good, you are not to do that to any senior officers unless I ordered it. This is your first and final warning. Eduardo, keep up the good work, though I would have preferred it if you had stepped in sooner.  And now WHY IN THE BLOODY HELL DIDN'T SOMEONE TELL ME BEFORE ALL OF THIS HAPPENED!? HALF RATIONS FOR ALL OF YOU FOR A WEEK!"

Arcturus was storming out when he then turned and said, "Hervin, release Kalthak and Davaian. Kalthak is now the Raid Chief here."

Simon held Liannaclose to him in the brig as she cried. "Shh, shh. It's alright. I'm here now," He whispered into her ear, "I'm here, and that monster is never going to hurt you again. No one will ever hurt you like that again. Never. I'll keep you safe, until I draw my last breath and they are laying dead around me. I'm here, and I will never leave you again, this I swear to you... Lianna..."

She had told him what happened. Simon had immediately dropped what he was holding and drawn Lianna into a protective embrace, comphorting her and crying himself.

Slowly, the general rage that he had felt for Nurgunnen and everyone and everything he stood for condensed into a seething knot of hate, the fact that Nurgunnen was dead did nothing to weaken it. It only added fule to the fire in Simon's heart as he found his vengence had been stolen from him. This would not end here, not like this.

Simon vowed to himself that, since his vengence against the dog had been stolen, its punishment would fall to the master. When Arctrus gave him the slightest excuse, Simon would end him, Simon would watch the sanity drain from his eyes as madness claimed the captain.

Someday, he promised himself, someday.

((If Hervin is very observant, he should be able to make out a small ring of rage around Simon's voice. Kalthak should have noticed his friend's anger before Hervin even showed up.))

Simon didn't move to leave yet, though. He stood there, holding Lianna in his protective embrace.

Alaric woke up completely, sitting up with difficulty and looking around at his surroundings, dazed. "I'm wha?"

The guard opened a cell and Willhelm was obediently walking staright in without even looking back or around himself.
-Bah it could have been worse I guess, what do you think Francis?! I mean they could have killed me right? To everyone's surprise Willhelm began talking into the thin air. Pretty desent of the captain to only lock me up. Question is tough, shall I expect to survive untill the maelstrom? Huh? What was that Francis? Me Pipe?! Of course! Willhelm clasped his forehead. Though he hid it well, Simon's rage threatened to overwhelm him, but he knew that this was not the time, nor the place, nor the people on which it was to be released.

"I also have to thank the doctor for what he did..." Simon remembered his gift that he had made for Lianna. He picked it up off of the ground, looking at it for a second. "Lianna, this may be the wrong time and the wrong place... But I made you your second gift. I finished it last night..." He stopped, looking at the flute for another moment. "You don't have to take it if you don't want to, I'll understand. No one should have to go through..." He stopped as the hate threatened to come out again.
