Those unrevealed units are supposedly non-human, that is what was said in this thread if I remember correctly.

For me the faction needs a bit more "magic" flavor. As of now I see it as Westworld 2.0 - robots sure, but "under the hood", so more like strictly Wild West which is a bit out-of place for this game. This might sound controversial to some, but Bastion, a similiary "desert" town, has more appeal as a Heroes 3 faction for instance. That is not to say I won't accept Factory, it's just I'm a bit reserved at this point...

We already have a "desert" faction (Stronghold), which makes sense as a crude Barbarian faction with monsters and primitive magic, so Factory needs to be more "expressive" imo. Wild West with a few robots/golems won't make the cut.

Winged-Serpent, only if it is a natural inhabitant of the wasteland. Than that makes sense that they would domesticate it.

Halfings, meh. I don't mind them, but I wouldn't miss them if they were replaced with something. Perhaps like a weak mech or something. Kinda like cannon fodder drones or something.

Gunslingers, I can see them fitting in. Especially if we go with my theory that a group of renegade pirates from Cove made off with gunpowder/cannons and established there own faction that would soon develop into Factory as we now know it.

Flamethrower chick, sure why not. They could be the forge masters or something and are responsible for welding/smelting the metal of the mechs together.

I personally think Factory should be the weakest in magic. As a town that is focused more on tech and mechanical things animated via steam and not magic, it would make sense for them to abandon magic.

Also I wouldn't call Stronghold a desert faction as there terrain is officially called Rough and it looks more like a rocky mountain scape than a desert. Plus the Sand terrain is only ever used when next to water tiles, making more a beach terrain than anything else.

Heck, even Factory isn't really a true desert faction. As Wasteland looks more like dry cracked earth than a sandy desert.

I've meant "magic" as in a fantasy setting, you know the general flavor. It can be easily fixed by adding some mythic creatures or oddities. The snake is not enough. A mechanical Dragon should do the trick imo.

That said Factory should be about "might" all the way, I concur.

When it comes to "desert" setting: it's dry, rough and full of dust. Those are the aspects it shares with Stronghold. A strictly "desert" faction (as in Beduin/Arab/Persian/Egyptian myths) would probaly be either Bastion or something Nephretes is working on (or does he?) in his Oasis mod.

Ahhh I see what you mean. I guess Stronghold is like a mountain desert and a true desert faction would be as you said Bastion (which I must now check out).

Edit: Damn the Oasis mod looks amazing! Especially the units.

As for the creature line up we have seen 4 true. 3 are humanoid and one is a creature. That leaves 2 unknown creatures. Which for a town that has been advertised as a mechanical town seems rather disappointing. Only 2 units that are mechanical in nature? That number should be higher.

there are 7 creatures per town in this game, which means there are still 3 creatures yet to be revealed. my guess would be that all of them are going to be mechanical.

Oh my god you are totally right! I'm literally failing to do basic math *insert facepalm emoji*.

Guess everyone now knows math is definitely not my strong point.

Good day. Here's some information about units' stats from the demo. It seems that Halfling Bombers have the ability "Contusion" which prevents retaliation of the attacked enemy stack. Gunslingers and Headhunters have the preemptive shot ability (1 time for Gunslingers and unlimited for Headhunters).

I suppose the "Preemptive shot" is similar to H5 Succubusses's Ranged Retaliation right ?

Pre-emptive sounds to me that the shot is made before the enemy attacks. As such, it's kinda like First Strike, where it can retaliate at full strength of the stack, before a number of them are killed in the attack that comes.

Yah but it's a "shot" so it means it only works against the enemy's ranged attack right ? Maybe it's a Ranged First Strike.

I was expecting ranged attack retalition for Gunslingers, but this sure is even better. Intrestingly, I would say this  even further pushes the theory on Dragon Golems as a tier 7 creature. You know, since in Homm 4 Dragon golems have first strike ability, and now we know they're planning to add ranged first strike ability... So why not make dragon golems with melee first strike? I think they're going to look very different than Homm4 dragon golems, and may even have completely different name. Maybe they even have wings and can fly.

Halfling ability sounds nice as well, I would expect the effect to only last one turn thou. Is there a reason why un-upgraded halflings seem to have 1 more shot compared to their upgrades?

The "block counter" ability might make Halflings OP as tier 1 unit. Just think of the edge such ability might give in the game if used correctly... and Gunslingers being tier 6 might also make them OP with their preempitive shot.

Could be a low % chance to 'block counter', not every time.
The preemptive make him strong against any other shooter on vs, so the melee combat needs some disadvantages

I have to say the models of the units both basic and upgraded are looking amazing. To this day I am still amazed at the 3DO level of detail the HotA crew continues to release. Phenomenal.

i was actually hoping upgraded halflings would have a splash attack ability, like throwing a bomb that explodes over several hexes.
