I watched hentai but very few of them not because I wanted to. It was because my cousin made me to. Back then I remember, he'll leave a stack of hentai cds on my desk and tell me to watch them. I remember watching one or two of them but never really went more than that.
I had a chance to watch Bible Black but after a few minutes of watching, my cousin told me to stop. Until now, I can't really think of a reason why in the first place he wanted me to watch and then decided to stop.
And sooo, when you say 'culture' you mean hentai! Now I know!

So... uh... your cousin wanted you to watch... That's weird. That's incredibly weird. Your cousin is suggesting you porn, and that's tipping both the 'yikes' and 'weird' ends of the spectrum.
He also told you to watch Bible Black, though, so he might have just been messing with you. It's literally the worst officially translated anime of all time. There's a theory that the English voice-actors just didn't get a script, so they made snow up while they were watching the anime without the volume turned off. It's just atrocious. If you wanted to give a good anime a try... hmmm... Cowboy Beebop is a masterpiece of a space drama, My Hero Academia is a pretty darn good Shounen (one of the best modern anime of that genre, which is pretty much just action, comedy and adventure), and JoJo's Bizzare Adventure is the greatest anime to spoof other anime of all time (it's also a GIANT MEME FACTORY. I think there's a meme for around 70% of the frames in JoJo's...)
... And hey, I don't watch hentai anymore! I get my degeneracy elsewhere. Mumble, grumble...

It is weird but I don't know why it could be 'yikes'. Anyways, the hentai thing wasn't that of a big deal to me back then. I am a girl anyways and there were other factors, so my interest was not as strong as you guys.
