there are 2 sides to this..as always

Vesuvius: he obviously got sick and tired about something ..I dunno what exactly and closed toh

the ToH members: I think they are all sad or disappointed Vesuvius did this and want an explanation.

All we can do actually is just wait for a reply from Vesuvius as to what his reasons were for closing ToH and maybe we can all come to a solution that will please both parties..There ha to be some compromise but it takes 2

Anyways..I dunno much about the whole thing..just wanted to clear the air a bit

Just wanted to make it clear

I am not meaning to bash Ves or TOH in anyway, I just feel the situation could have been handle much better.  TOH H3 was a great thing, its just very frustrating and disappointing to see it colapse this way.

So what that the season was closed, thats not a big deal.  Just wish it could of been handle a little more professionally.  I don't think the problem is the season closure, it was the way it was executed.

Just a reminder, 95% of the members did support TOH and its volunteers.  Damn shame that the other 5% ruined it for everybody.  But what the hell, life goes on.

At first I thought Motor's long post about if it happened once, it could happen again made good sense...

but then I realized that TOH has not shut down for good. It has finally switched over to Heroes 4, which as announced was gonna happen sooner or later. So I say, if you are a Heroes 4 fan, when it becomes playable, embrace it and have fun...if you hate H4 and wanna play H3, there are several other tournies out there. Unhappy with those tournies? well help them out and offer changes to improve them. Or make your own tournament?

I'll see the other Heroes 3 fans in Myths. At least that's still there. But I like the old ranking system better.

Myths will be fine for Heroes 3.

I couldn't agree more.  I will miss the automation though.  Hopefully it will be included in Myths.  I think that will solve a lot of problems for the Myths bashers.

when u delete positive feedback don't ask for it again and please don't wonder why more people write negative posts...

if u think that censorship on toh-board will help toh in future i guess u are completely wrong.

a whise man used to say "Awards in homm 3 will carry over to h4"....i say "experiences u made with the tournament in H3 will also carry over to H4".

if u think that players forget whats goin on now u wrong...

Yes, it is truely sad how low people have gone to undermine TOH. For the longest time I was getting very mad at cheaters, all around rude people, and other pricks who just ruin the online experience. But after seeing all this, I think I have matured and realized just how many morons there are online Yes! I said it you guys are freaken mental. Big thanks go out to all the people who put out effort to keep TOH the best gaming experience that could be had. My thoughts are exactly along the lines of Jinxer and Lich King. They pretty much summed it all up. It's too bad......

I may be wrong here, but I don't think Ves WANTED to open season 5.  He seemed to want to hold out for H4 multi, but with that being delayed so long and so many people wanting TOH back, he did it anyhow.  After a while, people started begging for divisions (from what I understand, a lot of work for him) and even though he really didn't want to, he cared enough to do so.  This is a "dictator"?

Of course all the players were SO appreciative, they waited maybe a week before mass complaining that half of the division leaders were cheaters and fake reporters.  Then of course they had to complain about the HC as well, people Ves chose to police cheaters.  Anybody that was so worried about fake reporters, all they had to do was check through all the accounts and look for suspicious records (as Xarfax1 did) but send them to HC instead of post them on the board with nasty comments about how much of a joke TOH is.  (Yeah, you can volunteer your time without an official job like this.  It is a lot of work for no credit, but who cares you want TOH to be great)

I know if I invited a bunch of strangers into my house to play a game, I would not put up with someone complaining about how my furniture didn't match the carpet or wasn't comfortable enough, or I didn't have the kind of drinks and snacks they wanted, and I don't think any of you would either.  If someone started acting that way, I would kick them out pronto, and if others started complaining about THAT I would just kick everyone out and cancel the party.

Another thing, I keep hearing lots about constructive criticism.  Well, most people would prefer that to be a little more private.  If you are in a group and realize someones fly is open, you should probably tell them quietly, not yell it out for everyone to hear.  From what I understand, Ves does read his email, and respond to it when appropriate.  Maybe some peeps just don't feel good if they aren't bashing somebody out loud, or maybe they try email and don't get the answer they want, I don't know.  I do know selfishness though, and I have seen a lot here lately.

Maybe we should keep the praise in the open and the criticism quiet.

Yes Ves provided us with the coolest tournament for any multiplayer games I know for so many years.  Thank you Rob, I`ve been priviledged to be part of your league for 700+ games.

The way you closed toh though... I won`t comment.  I`ll just live with it and remember the good things from toh rather.

Merci,

Frank.

you are right lich king, i dont wanna comment it anymore, and i stopped reading your post after the first lines, coz i know what comes...
i either critized HC in a formal and civilized way, or i tossed a bit with a smile after it...
the facts stay, i dun need to repeat it all again (inactive members etc)

to all that feel im guilty for this: sorry that i wrote what i wrote

but what i think: you guys looked for someone to blame, like you blamed AIR1 for the closure of grandmasters for example,ok now its me, fine i can live with that, better than you prolly...coz i at least am honest to myself.

final comment for me about this also.

P.S. Lich: i thought you are not one of those guys that say what others tell you if they need help, i guess i was wrong.

this is a very sad moment here.
Andi you will lose everyones respect as long as you never admit your mistakes.
How you can say all those thangs & have you been that ungrateful & took all this gaming for granted.
If you play in Myths will you take it for granted too.
I for one respected Vesuvius for since I first came here.
Gosh I wanted so badly to Donate really but I can barely afford my bills from my new house I got not even half a yr ago.
If I was in Ves shoes I would be asking myself what have I done to be treated like this.
I feel it was these inner guilt that that even thy vets from past seasons disrespects Ves.

Come now we all knew what Ves had planed for many nonths but you couldnt give him or his opstimistic plans a chance.
He never let you down before but then you dont give him a chance & you talk him &  his team down like they dont know anythang.
THere are eyes everywhere we just dont know it but I can sense it
Sure I pissed alot of people off & even just so we wont get bored & lighten this place up & I know I made many mistakes & learned from them even thy hard way.
I made many friends I lost some friends too.
Even from games friendships can be lost.
I understand both sides but one thang I never did was disrespect nobody, I speak my mind but will never talk out of my Arse.
I hope Myths carries what Vesuvius left off.
I for one cant wait also for heroes 4 to come out.
Like I said earlier & I was dead serious, if you got a problem with another tourny running heroes 3 then you dont have to stay.
I understand that even thy 5% of you are as mad as all of us about TOH but heh play thy game for fun & who cares where it's at, let Myths take over TOH heroes 3 & I am sure Mandi will be reasonable on this situation & PAtience I keep saying.

Aculias you are wrong, Andi had an opinion, not a mistake. Opinions are not wrong, ever. If thats the way he feels, at least he had the balls to come out and say it. If that one act forced the closure of ToH, then thats a little weak. I for one am not critical of Toh. The manpower, money, effort, time etc that has been put into that tourney by Vesuvius and the rest of the ToH volunteers is awesome and no-one can ever be too critical of that. Thanks for good heroes 3 times to all the volunteers and administrators of the tourney. I will be here for HoMM4.

And motor remember, its only a game, not a way of life. If it ever becomes a way of life for you, you need to make a change.

To be or not to be...Spoiled ?

Hia all
For starters I totally agree with you Lichy!
--- He called it the Tournament of Honor for a very good reason. Where is the Honor in doing everything you can to try to undermine the legitimacy of his tournament and rules or his volunteer admins every time you get the chance? There is no honor in that. It's just plain rude, disrespectful, and thankless. I have young children who behave more maturely than that and those who are guilty of acting this way really should be ashamed of themselves.
-----
Once upon a time someone smart ( I think it was C. Darwin) said that when we are kids, we are not grown accustumed to the world surrounding us, but we do so in time, eg. we pick up bits and parts from your surrounding parts. When that is said ( or quoted ) I guess what you state is partial true, right to the bone. Some of us goes to player rankings to see ones record, and WHAT ?? he/she did NOT report...mail HC, FLAME on board..and for what ? 15 points ? 9 points ?
My point beeing that some of us are just plain and simple spoiled 'kids' . If something does not go our way, ToH-wise we spout and flame till we get what we want ( was it 7 points ? )
So I guess your right, take what comes or LEAVE ( is gamespy still running ) It's Ves's money and he can imho spend them as he pleases ( this is not meant to sound negative ) and he does. Some likes it some dont ( ie. the 95% vs the 5% ) and as Frank says It has been a pleasure playing in ToH, I think so too, but MaH is taking over so whats the deal ? it's only 3 lill letter's ( mainly ) that parts ToH and MaH
I will be playing in BOTH tournaments because I like the game...simple ey ?
Heck I ran outta cent's but iLL run to the bank to check out me account, and then iLL be back

I agree with you to an exrent, but I also have opinions but he been having these same opinions for so long.
I mean you got to look at it if it is really opinion or does he really think he is really right.
I really dont think it is an opinion at all I think he is dead serious as all of us & everythang all of us said in this thread & Xarfax thread is how they really feel not opinions.
I may be wrong if so correct me please yes no?

But after having the day to think,i see what has happened.

Yes,I  among others do not like the way it ended,I'm sure Ves is smart enough to realize what confusion he caused.

 But,it is his site.

And,I understand how agravated he is about H4 and 3D0

And,after thinking,I realized what a thankless job he had running TOH.

Does that mean shutting down TOH like this was right? Not in my opinion

But in my opinion,Ves didnt recieve enough praise either

For every complement I bet he recieved 100 complaints

 Sad,but true
