Monsterous Monsters
In each game, the monsters change to suit the graphics, but what about the monsters that look the best the first time they were intruduced? Like Titans, all Dragons(except the one in HOMM1), Boar and Devils. And in the game that they're in next, they look stupid, here's an example:
HOMM2 Titan:
And here's the HOMM3 Titan:
I know the HOMM3 Titans have gold armor, but still H2 Titans look and sound better.

If you ask me, all the creatures in HOMM2 looked better. Way better.

I'm with you on this on. Most creatures in Heroes2 looked better (whatever values you would like to put in that word), but Heroes3 also have certain nice additions like the Behemoth. Now that's a monster worthy the titulation of "MONSTER". Also they looked much better in H3 than in H4 (Overgrown rodent anyone?).

Basicly every monster in H2 looks better than in the other games. When the graphics get better, the monsters loose their touch. They realy should try to make the monsters look as much like the old one as possible.

Good point. But I think LT is right. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but looking at the H3 image of the Titan again, I think it's face looks sort of like a fish...

but, yes, the Titans looked a lot better in HoMM II than in HoMM III. But most of the other creatures in HoMM III lookes better than in HoMM II. And HoMM IV can go to "a very warm place". Those creatures are UGLY.

well, maybe it might be said out even more loud and clear:
increase in graphics quality doesn't necessarily mean increase in artistic value.
also, a major part of the artistic value is an emergent quality of all the creatures, buildings and landscape etc put together.

I also agree that creatures looked better in h3 than in h2...they were more mythic like...refering to the monsters...and the human creatures looked very authentic.

HoMM2 was closer to fairy tales and such.
HoMM3 was quasi-realistic.
Two different styles, we can't objectively say which one is better. They are just different, and certain creatures look better in one version, while others look better in the other.

Still, the play value is better in H2 than in H3. The monsters have better sound tracks too.

The swordsmen' attack sound used to annoy me - whenever I knew they were going to attack, I turned off the speakers  .

The one thing I hated most of all in H2: The adventure map sound for when you're near Ruins where you recruit Medusas. If you like that sound, I will have to kill you.

Lets get serious, the monsters were better off never leaving Enroth, they were just gonna die in combat anyway, +the monsters are completly different in H4 anyways.
Dwellings should change, they make all sorts of weird noises like Saruman said(ha ha, like Saruman). Some monsters are too strong though, and thats why they were diched, but then 3do made some new bizzar monsters to take their place.

The vampire's looked ridiculous, they looked like theyd be better off selling choclately delicious marshmellow cereal then fighting wars. I have to say i like the H3 look over the h2 one.
