The Minks' Jolly Good Adventure
Hello there people
A while ago while talking to Pan on MSN I got an idea which required some cooperation on Daddy's part. Fortunately for everyone who just so happens to read this post, he liked the idea . Almost two weeks have passed since that day, and finally the fun part begins.
The Minks' Jolly Good Adventure, a continued illustrated story, is finally open for public viewing
Me and Daddy shall update on mondays and thursdays alternately. We certainly hope you people enjoy this
At this point I would like to thank Pandora who helped us with some things rather small but important nonetheless.
And yes - the title is a bit of a tribute to Nebuka's wonderful story that everyone enjoyed. Too bad we never got to see part two
Now, back to what this thread is all about - I present to you, the first episode of The Mink's Jolly Good Adventure!
Once upon a time there was a lake side village inhabbited by a little people who called themselves Minks. A Mink's body looks a bit like that of a sheep with thick grey fur. They have thin arms and legs and a tail with a few hairs on the end. The have a rather long, yellow beak and big, round eyes. They live in small wooden huts, so many of which can be found in their village. One day, however, three Minks - Grink, Slink and Plink - decided that the village is too crowded for their liking. They left the village in search of a suitable place to live, and how happy they were when they saw a forest. They ran towards it, cheering.

Scared by the Fruit Monster's words, Grink, Slink and Plink decided to return to their village and tell the King of Minks about the situation. They ran to the King's quarters as fast as their legs would carry them and knocked nervously.
'Come,' said the King.
The three Minks entered the house in which their leader lived. It wasn't nearly as fancy as his title would suggest, although it was bigger than any other house in the village.
'What's the reason for your visit?' the King enquired.
'We went to the forest today,' said Grink, who was the only one who was the only one not completely exhausted with the run. 'When we entered the forest, some green fellow with a huge orange tongue and no limbs said something about us Minks preparing for war'
'Slink and Plink, you are free to go' the King said, and the two Minks left. 'Grink. Tomorrow morning you will go to the forest with two other Minks. Strong Minks, like you. Take spears. You'll find out what their intentions are.'
'Yes, my lord!' said Grink, and left. We have decided to update more often. From now on, expect new episodes on mondays, wednesdays and fridays

episode 4
And as the King commanded, the Minks did. Grink's expedition party proceded towards the forest. All three of them had long spears with stone tips. They finally reached the forest, but saw no Fruit Monsters yet. As they moved on deeper in the forest, they saw a city of treetop houses connected with networks of elevators and such. For a moment Grink wondered how such creatures managed to build the place, but had to stop contemplating this subject, however interesting it was, for he had heard a familiar voice.
'THE MINKS ARE INVADING!' said the Fruit Monster. 'What did I tell ya? Throw the stones! NOW!'
A shower of both small pebbles and fist sized rocks fell all around the Minks, who had a hard time trying to figure out how to fight back and evade the assault at the same time.
'Retreat! Retreat!' Grink shouted. 'We know the Fruit Monsters' intentions, which is what the King sent us here for!'

Today's episode came roughly 12 hours later than usual, but hopefully you'll find it worth the wait
After Grink's report, the King didn't have a lot of thinking to do. The Fruit Monsters attacked his Minks when they entered the forest. The question was, would they attack the village? Not willing to take risks, the King decided to start building an army. All male Minks were to either make weaponry, train or - if possible - both. Having learned about the situation, the Minks put a lot of effort in their tasks and the King was surprised with what size an army he had, given the village's size. With two dozen Minks armed with spears and shields, supported by several youths who insisted on joining with their slingshots, the King felt they could fend off any assault. Now they had to wait for the Fruit Monsters' move.

I just remembered that I am next with posting lol - And cuz I cant sleep right now anyways (00:36 here) I will post it now
Meanwhile, in the Fruit Monster's treetop city...
'I told you, sir!' said Bork 'Those Minks are bloodthirsty beasts! They shamelessly attacked our beautiful city!'
'With three soldiers? I don't call that much of an assault' said the Big Cheese of the Fruit Monsters.
'That's exactly what they wanted us to think, sir!' said Bork. 'They are probably forming a real strike force as we speak!'
'Very well. Send a scout to wherever those Minks live and check their military situation.'
'Yes, sir!'
'I assume that you do know their whereabouts?'
'No sir, but I have seen from where they came. The scout will locate them in no time.'
'Don't let me detain you then.'

As Big Cheese said, Bork did. Almost instantly even. The scout was sent and, being really good at his job, he located the Mink village quickly. Bork wasn't very specific with the directions, but since when does that stop someone as good as Pthunk, he thought. Now that the village was within eyeshot, all he had to do was verify the "military Mink" theory and not get caught. Pthunk crept up behind a house where the Minks wouldn't see him and, carefully glancing around the corner, he saw lots of armed Minks practicing what seemed to be military formations. Looks like they really are preparing for war, Pthunk thought and went back as fast as possible without actual limbs.

'Scout Pthunk reporting, sir!' said Pthunk.
'What did you see?' said the Big Cheese.
'Lots of armed Minks! They had spears and shields! Some of them had slingshots!'
'I told you they were preparing an attack, sir!' said Bork. 'We need to stop them as soon as possible!'
'I see. You are free to go, Pthunk,' said the Big Cheese. Pthunk saluted with his tongue and left.
'What do you suggest, Bork?' said the Big Cheese.
'We must form a counter force! Our population is much larger and we've got a great defensive position, it would be foolish not to use that' said Bork.
'No. Clash of armies means casualties. Casualties means unhappy citizens. Unhappy citizens means lower chance of winning the next election. We must avoid bloodshed. Take a few Fruit Monsters and send them to the Mink village at night. They are to take or damage all weaponry that they find. It's probably guarded, so give them a light club or two to knock out any Mink that might be... in the way of things' said the Big Cheese.

The night came down, and four Fruit Monsters departed on their sabotage mission. Two of them were carrying small clubs. They weren't all that happy with their task, but what could they do? Bork would shout at them if they didn't do their job, and everyone hates it when Bork starts shouting.
'Okay, this is it,' said one of the Fruit Monsters when they have reached the Mink village. 'Look for a pile of weaponry. If you don't find anything outdoors, check out the houses, but be careful when doing so!'
They searched the place, but weapons were nowhere to be found, so it was time to take a look indoors.
'Oi! Lookie here!' one of the Fruit Monsters hissed. 'There's loads of spears and stuff in here!'
They rushed in, thought for a moment about how many they'd be able to carry, and then started smashing the remaining loot. Suddenly, a Mink entered.
'So you are the creatures we'll be warring against?' he said and approached the Fruit Monsters in an aggressive manner. He was one of the bigger and stronger folk, which the invaders noticed immediately. They all slipped past the Mink and reached the exit. All but one.
'The King will want to talk to you in the morning I guess,' the Mink said, grinned, and punched the Fruit Monster.

'Come in!' said the King, and two Minks entered. It was Slink and the guard. The captive Fruit Monster was with them.
'Now tell me,' the King glared at the Fruit Monster. 'What were you doing there last night?'
'I'm not telling you nothing! You hear? Nothing!' the Fruit Monster barked.
'Are you sure?' the King asked. The Fruit Monster stuck out his enormous tongue.
'As you wish. Slink?'
'Yes, sire?' said Slink.
'You will guard the green fellow. If he decides to tell us something, there's a bell in the jailhouse.'
'Yes, sire.'
'Take him away.'

The jailhouse didn't seem very familiar to Slink. Possibly because he never did anything to earn himself a place here. Or maybe because the jailhouse wasn't there two days ago. It was amazing how fast the King reacted to whatever had happened recently. It almost seemed impossible to surprise the old Mink.
The jailhouse was divided into two parts by solid metal bars with a door made of smaller metal bars.
'Here you go then,' said Slink, opening the metal door for the Fruit Monster, who obediently entered. Slink shut the door and sat down.
'Locked up far away from home... You must feel terrible' said Slink.
'Of course I feel terrible! What do you think it's like, being sent on a sabotage mission in the middle of the night by the meanest of all Fruit Monsters and being caught by gods know who while the others that went with me are sitting happily at home at this very moment?' the Fruit Monster growled. Slink rang the bell.

The adventure continues!
Having been told by the now incomplete sabotage party about their colleague being left behind, the Big Cheese decided to send another group of Fruit Monsters to break the captive Fruit Monster out. Four Fruit Monsters went slowly towards the Mink village. They were seen from a distance however, and when they reached their destination, they met the Mink army. The four Fruit Monsters wouldn't simply retreat though - they'd rather show these furry giants who they're going up against first. And so, one of the Fruit Monsters hopped up to a Mink and glared at him. Several Minks laughed. The Fruit Monster used this moment of carelessness to snatch the spear out of the Mink's hands and whack him over the head with it. The Fruit Monsters divided into twos, and in each pair the two Fruit Monsters grabbed eachothers' tongues, after which they proceded to alternately throw eachother away. This way proved to be a lot faster than hopping or crawling, and they all got away safely.

Grink entered the jailhouse, glared at the Fruit Monster and told Slink to go talk to the King. Slink left, while Grink sat down and continued glaring at the prisoner. Slink went to the King's house and knocked.
'Come' said the King, and Slink entered. 'What did the prisoner say?'
'Apparently he was sent here on a sabotage mission along with a few others, who managed to run away' said Slink.
'Is that all you know?' the King asked.
'It also seems that whoever sent him is not a very popular figure.'
'I see. You are free to go.'

There's no avoiding battle, the Big Cheese thought. Trying to manipulate the situation to eliminate losses, we have ended up with an innocent Fruit Monster held captive far away from home. Maybe Bork was right? Maybe we should have attacked them while they weren't expecting anything? Well, we've got far greater numbers and access to better equipment, so hopefully we can win without losses. The Big Cheese took a pen and made notes. The Fruit Monster army will use nets, throwing stones, small clubs... Ah, he thought. The old trick with the rope will surely come in handy.

'So, what's your name?' said Slink.
'And why should I tell you that? You're a Mink!' said the prisoner.
'And you're a Fruit Monster. But I can't let you go until my King tells me to, so we might as well spend some time talking.'
'You're just trying to trick me into telling you things so that you can pass on the information to your King!'
'I promise I won't tell him anything. If he asks, I'll just tell him that you don't seem to know anything beyond what I already told him.'
'But why would you be doing that?'
'Because I don't want a war. My name's Slink. What's yours?'
'Podré' said the Fruit Monster.

The Big Cheese was talking to Bork and occasionally glancing at the Fruit Monster army. Who would have thought that things happen so fast?
'So, Bork, how many do we have here?' he asked.
'Two dozen stone-throwers, around thirty clubbers, and about a dozen netters. We're still gathering recruits.' Bork said.
'How about the rope boys?' the Big Cheese enquired.
'Still working on that, sir.'
'Well, don't spend too much time on preparations. We want this over with as soon as possible.'

Plink was talking to the King.
'Is there really going to be a war, sire?' he asked.
'I have no idea, Plink. Let's hope the answer is no. For all we know the Fruit Monsters may be on their way to attack the village at this very moment.' the King answered.
After the conversation was over, Plink went for a walk around the village. We don't really know anything about the Fruit Monsters, he thought. The place I grew up in, my family, my friends... Everything I have can one day be gone. Oh, why does this have to happen?

Grink was wandering around the village, grinning occasionally at the Mink army he was part of. He looked towards the Fruit Monster forest, and how shocked he was when he saw a horde of armed Fruit Monsters coming!
'THE FRUIT MONSTERS ARE COMING!!!' he shouted. 'Someone tell the King! Anyone!'
Hearing these words, Plink rushed into the King's house. 'My lord! The-' he started.
'I've heard. Now take this letter,' the King said and handed Plink a letter in a bottle. 'And throw it as far into the lake as you can.'
'Yes, my lord!' Plink said, holding the bottle, and left.

Sorry for the lateness
Slink was talking to Podré in the jailhouse when he heard Grink's unignorable bellow.
'Did you hear that? We've got to do something!' said Slink.
'Yeah, but what can we do?' Podré asked. 'Hey, why don't we just go out there and tell all those Fruit Monster soldiers to go away?' he added sarcastically.
'That's what I was going to suggest' said Slink, and started opening the door that stood before Podré and freedom.

and another round B-day! number 20!
Meanwhile, somewhere in the lake, a rather large turtle swam, holding a bottle with a letter in one of it's flippers. It swam and swam until it reached a small island. It stood up and walked on two legs towards one of the huts and entered.
'I've found a message, boss,' he said.
'Let me take a look' said another turtle that was in the hut, and took the bottle from the visitor. He uncorked the bottle, took out the letter and read it.
'Looks like mister king needs our help. Send over a bunch of our boys, will you?'
