I didn`t liked it in Homm 3, I don`t like it in Homm 4.
What do ya think about it?

I completely agree. It is pointless and looks ugly. Instead of an underground level, people should make a new map.

I agree, underground is totally uselless, they should do bigger 1 level maps then underground maps.

...why do you say that? Personally, if the map size were twice its size or whatever, I would be happier, but I don't see what the problem with two levels is...

I personnaly like the underground. It's usually not only another level of the same kind as the other, but brings some more interesting stuff like tunnels linking different parts of the outside, and with that some more interesting strategy options. Apart from this it's true it often looks ugly, as it's much harder to make fancy stuff because in the editor objects cannot cross the underground limits but must be completly inside of it. I think that would be a more interesting problem to solve.

I really don't mind the "Sub-Terrainian Lair" although it could use a face lift.
I like the idea of the evil races being down there,(and they can stay there for all I care; stinky undead, and you thought Dragons smelt bad).

  I have to disagree with you, 'cause there are several diffrences:
 1)In the teleport you get to any distance immidietly, but when you have an underground passage, it may take a while.
 2)When you're underground you can find artifacts, resources, mines, dvellings etc'. In teleport you can't.
 3)In the underground you can fight with more creatures than the two that guard the teleports.

  So I think underground is good, but I don't say it has nothing to fix.

You want another map instead of the underground level? But the underground level can be used in such way! There can be not only underground tunnels in it but it can be made just as the upper level. To make it the same, you can cover the whole underground level with water... and then making islands on it. What's the problem? There are maps where the you can never guess that the second level is underground. So there are two dufferent maps and you can go from the one to the other by a Subterranean gate...
By the way, you can make two underground levels - if you cover the upper level with an underground terrain. But this is just a possibility.
So the other map that you want is already here. Well, the size can't be increased but I think the XL maps are big enough.

...the main idea is that the underground passages usually provide for some twisting and turning mazes which includes a different twist to the maps, reasonably so as well...I kinda like it, and its nice that they kept it (why they wouldn't is beyond me)...

  I agree, but here's a thought. Why not to do portals to the underground instead of the gate. That way it will look like two maps in one, and the only thing to remind that it's an underground would be the icon.

...I think it was meant to be a bit ugly...and in case you never used the map editor, many of the subterrenean...er, "objects" are quite useless to create magnificent scenes when combined with others...

Underground level...

I think it's great, just aslong as I don't have to live down there...
I know it didn't always look that cool in HoMM3, but i believe it will be better in H4.

well...

ive just learned from 3do that the map sizes will stay: S, M, L, XL.... BUT.... "the cell sizes may be larger"
so you may get your wish of a bigger map...
