Maybe Skyrim is set in the nordic summer so it never really gets dark?
Anyway, I've played for a few hours, as an Imperial sword mage.
I am... a bit disappointed. As an expansion pack to Oblivion I think it would be excellent, but as it's own sequel? I'm not sure yet.
The good things about the game:
1. The details. The game is beautiful and incredibly detailed. Wolves hunt deer, moose run away from you and you see lots of critters and stuff in the woods.
The nordic theme gets a little boring though. I really hope the entire game won't look like the starting area.
I liked the world in Oblivion a lot more. Is there a big city like that imperial city in Cyrodill? I LOVED that place.
2. Dynamic world. I found a camp and started to salvage it. Turns out it was a trap set by bandits!
3. Tons of side quests, and all have fairly high quality.
4. Fun crafting system that actually makes you travel out to the world and not in WoW where professions are like LOL I'LL JUST BUY ALL INGREDIENTS OF THE AUCTION HOUSE.
5. Really nice and beautiful nordic designs.
Now the bad things.
1. Again, if the whole game looks like the northern half of Sweden, then I am going to get bored. Where's the agriculture? The nordic countries used to be completly dependant on peasants aswell.
2. Super boring skill system. Ugh. Boring skills like "You deal 20% more damage with one-handed weapons" WOW HOW INNOVATIVE AND EXCITING. -.-
I guess WoW has affected me greatly, since WoW is going in a direction where boring obligatory passive +10% healing skills are being removed.
3. Clunky combat system. It really breakes my immersion that you have to go into the menu every single time you want to change spells and weapons. Same for potions. It's very noticeable that this was made for console.
The combat system in Fable 1 was excellent, they should go with that one.
4. To much junk. Maybe this is what defines an RPG for some people, but I just don't get the point.
The main problem is that it doesn't really feel like a sequel, it feels like an expansion pack to Oblivion.
They could atleast have tried to be more innovative.
Personally, I prefer Mass Effect but these days, I prefer sci-fi over fantasy (because sci-fi universes have a greater potential to be original)
Where can I find Skyrim mods?

So I've been looking around for a bit, found a dragon in the mountains, was pretty fun to battle (sadly I died shortly after because I got jumped on with zero hp when going to a shrine).
And I seem to have run out of Steel ingots, anyone know where/how one gets new ones.

Well yeah, but I figured you'd be able to mine them, since Alvor is selling a pickaxe, but not anything better than Iron ingots (that I can use anyway).
So I was just wondering if anyone had discovered a mining shaft or something.

Yes there are ore veins that you can hack at.
Also I found this saaaaweeeet Alteration spell called Transmutation that transforms materials into other materials. That's damn cool. Nice to see spells that aren't just for combat.
Ah... I hope there are some good unique axes in Skyrim... swords tend to get all the love...
I just watched a Redguard cast Paralyze on a girl btw... damn it looked so nice. I want to be an illusionist assassin now!
I hate this about playing Elder Scrolls games... I get new ideas of what I want to play like every 5 minutes... if I didn't have any self control I would've restarted the game 20 times over already ^^

Oh you're at that quest now? I completed it earlier. HAven't got much further. I actually restarted and made a Nord instead, cause I wasn't happy with my first char. I leveled him as a stealtyh assasin-guy, but all I do is mash people up with a sword and lightning bolt the living snow out of them. So fun.

I strike and then shield bash and then strike and then shield bash and repeat 'til it no longer moves.
My enemies are in constant stagger, they don't get a chance to hit me
10 block skillpoints from getting Elemental Resistance and then I can block magic as well... I think I might be overpowered...

I know, the elves look so creepy in Elder Scrolls.
Atleast in my fantasy world I was super original and based my elves on feudal Japan and Ancient Greece.

*SPOILER ALERT* (for Ad really, don't want to ruin it )
I'm a ****ing warewolf, I'm mauling some vampires atm, I wish they didn't take an 'underworld' approach to it (That vampires hate warewolves) but it's awesome nevertheless. I'm not going to say where I got it from, that would be too much, but I'll say it was from an unexpected 'society' .

It's plain impossible for me not to read things marked with spoilers...
Fortunately that was the thing I was spoiled about on the Nexus earlier Ivor, the thing that I said would make you real excited
Ah I love the enchantment system in this game... taking apart magical constructs to learn how they're made... feels realistic and makes finding magical gear that you don't need actually useful. Just break 'em down and enchant something else.
EDIT:
Goddamn Chaurus insect ****s! This game can actually be pretty hard at times.
Ohh... Argonians don't sound as weird as earlier... nice change actually.

I fast travelled to the other side of the map by getting drunk and passing out, woke up miles away ^^
EDIT:
For anyone considering getting this for PC, I max it out at 1920x1080 with zero lag on this setup:
AMD Phenom II X2 560 3.30 GHZ
4 GB RAM
Sapphire Radeon HD5850 Xtreme 1GB
Nothing too extreme, worth noting that I have a dual-core while Bethesda recommended a quad-core for high settings ^^
