Quote: I think this is a great system. Big . What faction were you planning to do next?
Thanks, both you and Admira. Seeing how I am going to Italy for a vaction/study-trip tomorrow, I'm not gonna make a new faction untill I get back. But that does give me plenty time to muse over things and perhaps get inspired about things. Though likely Inferno is next, seeing how it's easy to mooch of something existant.
I'll reply to Admira after my dinner.

Nice take your time, but I personally feel the themes is fit and the return of the old necromancy will give it a very different feel when you are playing them and lore-wise fits the themes. (Growing the army with more death)

I just noticed that you've yet to write down your ideas on the Mummy and the Fateweaver. So, I've little idea of what they do, and if they fill out the elite tier.
As far as your core goes, I'm not certain what you mean with sweeper, as it has several meanings. It's either a unit designed to quickly knock the opponent out, or the last line of defense before coming to the weak units. The latter explaination makes little sense, as you need to get your skellies into the melee(eventually in the case of magi). Your ghosts are a lot less usefull for a might hero. And I rather see little use of the Spider, if you already have a tank. The rest is pretty decent.
As far as the racial goes, I try to design my factions to work without a racial. So when one would be introduced, it could be tailored around the faction, instead of the other way round.
Admittedly, you are right that this kind of system lends itself for more traditional forms of Necromancy, as in Heroes VI it is little more than glorified healing. I am personally more of a fan of the TotE Dark Energy form of Necromancy, which doesn't limit the sort of creatures you can raise, just the number of them. The other way round, endless skellies is very limiting, but in another way.

@War-overlord: I have added the ability for Mummy and Fate Weaver.
As for the racial, I think we have different approach here. In my thinking, if you want to have the factions play differently then the racial is the first thing to focus on and tailoring the tiers based on it. But of course, it is a personal opinion.
I replaced the Dead Crawler role to survival fighter with a tweak, the ability is very similar to vampire but unlike Vampire that not affecting the casualties count for necromancy, the healing trigger to Dead Crawler upon attack will render the number fallen under them permanent dead.
As for Dark Energy, yes, I am also a big fans of it, but I still think all tier necromancy is a bit too powerful. Surely, the dark energy can be the system to limit the Necromancy even in only-skeleton system. In case it is still too powerful.

Now, I've read your elite tier, I have one thing to say. The units work, but I think they work as individuals. I have the feeling that they lack real coherence. And I have to admit, that I like the sacrifice Skelleton to cast X.

And he has returned from his trip and is ready to continue this exercise. And Inferno is done.

On Inferno:
The Core is surprisingly much to my liking. The Elite...well is logical in itself, while not so the choices I would have made...

Thank you, I am trying to mix the traditional Inferno with some influences I've had over the years that are somewhat less Fire-'n-Brimstone if you catch my drift. I will be progressing with Fortress for the time being.
Wondering what you would have chosen.

Well I'd have gone even less fire-and-brimstone than you did, I just never liked the Christian analogy that sprang up between the Haven and Inferno starting in H3, if Anything I'd have gone with a more 'strictly evil' version of the warlock (from H1/2) lineup.
As for creatures, I'd like to see a more traditional Dungeon (see H3) than Ubisoft seemed prepared to give us in H5, with a troglodyte, minotaur, manticore and black dragon, and for the Sylvan, a fairy, elf archer, druid, unicorn and dendroid/treant preferably.

Whereas I like a more Cthulic or Warhammer type approach to demons, both have obvious flaws for me. Cthulic is all well and good, but I'd need a pukebucket untill I'd gotten thoroughly used to it and I cannot wrap my mindset around much of it. As for the Warhammer approach, I like it, but that'd be a blatant rip-off. And still quite a bit of fire-'n-brimstone.
As for Dungeon and Sylvan, I am going to try that. But they will still be solidly rooted in a racial bases. And I am going to try to actually make Dungeon mostly Dark Elf as a creative excercise.(Despite my wellknown stance that the Minotaurs are the true rulers of Dungeon) But with roughly 13 creatures to do that with, not counting upgrades 7 of those creatures have, that should be perfectly doable.

Minor update. It seems to me that 80% or more Elves on the internet should seriously consider a career in bikini-modeling or if that fails the adult industry.
Also, governments should introduce fines on uncreativity or for waisting my time.

I would agree that an Egyptian Anubite is a slight leap for the Arabic Academy, but not that big a leap.

I would certainly agree. Wizards, as much as they'd like to, do not make up an entire society. And their armies should reflect that.
