Question about Warlords Tourney
Hello People,
Just a quick question: How does one establish who is the initial holder of a shield?
Thanks.

Hmmmm, I went looking to see if I could find an answer to Karim's question and I all I found was :"Now Open - Players Petition for Holding Shields"
Not sure how Ves wants people to petition, but in past seasons you emailed the coordinator if there was a shield open. I bet it's still the same way. Jinxer would probably know for sure.
That's my guess anyways.
Edited because it sounded a little rude. None is intended.

Yes in the past all you had to do was e-mail in a request. Generally, out of the list of possible candidates the more known active players get it to start since this type of tourny needs active participants.
Ofcourse just because this is how it was done in the past does not mean this is in stone. SO use my comments only as refference. Vesuvius obviously may have other ideas so it may change.

Silver Unicorn Shield
Do I need to wait for Jinxer to make Baron b4 we can play for the shield?
also, just a thought, since the same shields and history exist on the TOH h3 site, should history for h4 shields be cleared? just wondering....

Hmm.... I am thinking seeing the old history is nice. Maybe a
==========Line drawn in some color================
would a nice to show the change in HOMM4? Hmm... good question Zud.
Also, I am kinda thinking if we go with clearing things for HOMM4 then maybe new shields come for the following seasons too? ....liking this the more I think about it.

Imo,
I think it would be ahuge mistake to erase the homm3 standings on those sheilds.. Perhaps a line as deth pointed out, and maybe even removing all but the "True Warlords" of h3.
But Warlords has always been a running toh tournament, and I think the players who played and worked for those sheilds and recognitions should continue to be recognized by the actual tournament that they won them in.
To me its the same as keeping an h3 dragon icon or medal.. It would be a shame to see the history go.

Just outof curiosity..
The Warlords Buckler.. for footman only.. says
For Footman only , if holder surpasses 1250 points the must surrender it..
Is this a typo? Or intentional.. As a footman will become a squire at 1149.. and then not be only a footman
just curious

H3 History
I mainly mentioned this because the same history is on the shields in H3 on the TOH/MAH page and that these are new for H4 tourney. If everything else for H3 was transfered why would the same shield history be on the H3 and H4 site?

I have to agree with Zud. Heroes 4 is totally new game. This isnt like a new season or anything its a totally different new game. ALot of new players etc. I really dont think it matters who was great warlord in Heroes 3. I say clear all names off and start fresh with Heroes 4 warlords. As Zud pointed out, all this history is safe and sound on the same page on Myths site, so the history is NOT lost.

I'd kinda still like to see something like a line or darkened color on the H3 shield holders with new graphics for HOMM4. I sure do hope all the holders of the past will still be seen in history somewhere that is easily accessible.
Another possible idea would be to have just a link to the Warlords page at MaH (as long as it doesn't go through some kind of history revision). That way the tournament for H4 could have a new look with a set of new shields, but at the bottom people can still find out who held them in seasons of HoMM past. This would be in a way similar to the little silver or gold coins HoMM2 tournament players had at ToH in the rankings, though I know the icons have carried in the rankings for players at certain levels (dragons, wyverns).

end of discussion
The history stays, like all ToH history does. The List of homm3 warlords winners will not be removed.
As to the parameters of having to surrender your shield, you need to be a certain rank to take it, but as you play with it you need freedom to have enough wins to make 10 wins... so if you had to surrender a footman shield once you made 1150, well we would have no more than 2-3 wins on most records. (So use your heads please on this... that system was devised 4 years ago and has worked well so far, no need to change it now).
Perhaps if one day there is so many homm4 past shield holders on that list, I will make a second page for history. As for now, noone has even played a game so lets end discussion until something actually happens, ok?

Look under the cluster description on the Speed Deamon page to see rankings.
It looks like a quick update just happened today.

Call to Power
I'm registered for this, my first tourney, and am very much looking forward to it.
A question and a comment:
Q: Now that I'm registered, do I need to worry about making Squire on my own before the tourney begins or ends? Will this disqualify me??
Comment: It seems like promoting the winner all the way to Legionnaire might be problematic for that person. They may have trouble getting in games after that... won't have enough points for other Legionnaires to want to play them, and lower ranked players may be scared off by the Legionnaire status. At best the player may have to keep explaining that although he/she is really much less experienced than a "true" Legionnaire.
Seems like this might cheapen the accomplishments of the true Legionnaires too. (I have a friend that's been working on reaching this level for months now.) I'd be just as happy to have 1st place promoted only to Baron.
Either way though I'm looking forward to the tourney!
Cheers!
