What race is Halon?

It is stated that Halon is a genie, yet he has green skin and lacks the glowing eyes of a genie.
He looks more like a gremlin to me.
I found his Heroes 2 portrait, where he looks a bit more genie-ish, still the green skin is kinda weird.

I don't think his color says much of not being a genie. That would be basically a person with different skin color. Back in the day, almost no one had gleaming eyes either.

Flint is also a genie, and he is not precisely the regular genieish blue either, nor have gleaming eyes. And Myrini is purple.

Yes in Heroes II maybe troll ogre or goblin. In HIII rather gremlin.

He is another race of Genie, just like it is with humans and other races.

Maybe, but all other genies have glowing eyes. He had them in 2, but not 3.

You should ask why genies got blue instead, because green, dark greenish-blue and purple were there first. H2 came first, after all. His eyes didn't glow in H2. They had yellow instead of whites and a regular pupil. Most heroes from H2 changed when they got to 3.

Okay, but in Heroes 3 all genies are blue except Halon, but yeah I guess they can have different skin color. Aine also has a lighter skin color, but still blue-ish. Daremyth is actually a bit purple.
So yeah it's mostly Halon's eyes that seem weird, especially in 3.

Probably due race. Green genies have normal eyes; blue genies have them glowing. Oddities happen among humans, as well. Some have white eyes, but apparently they are not described as blind. Mainly, designers think it's cool having things glowing or weird.

And considering they added a genie creature, genie heroes followed in suit. Halon would just not be the same, if he was the same hero from the previous game with a sudden change of color, even if his eyes got a bit normal.
