The speed/initiative split is one of the main reasons I consider H5 to be superior to H3. Having some creatures that have really high initiative act twice before some really low initiative creatures is great for the depth of the game imo.

It's a good thing then that Olden Era has that split implemented, isn't it?

Heroes 6 and 7 had that split too, yet they didn't surpass Heroes 5 on this point. Do you know why, Etharil?

Because they didn't implement an Active Time Battle (ATB) initiative system that made use of that split. Apart from turn order, there was no turn frequency involved and the loss of that concept in later games felt like a downgrade to me ever since.

So, does Olden Era have an ATB-like initiative system or is it standard turns? If it's the latter, well, you now know what I wish for.

It is indeed an improvement, though I consider perks to be almost as big of an improvement.

Sword in the Stone:     (Adventure Map Location):  How about a small adventure item with a sword in the stone like the Arthurian legends. If you have enough Attack/Defense/Spellpower/Knowdledge you pull out the artifact from stone.

I guess a skill level of 6 or 10  depending on the artifact level would do the trick. It would be like the “tree of knowledge” but with a different prerequisite.

You would have incentive to rush to the artifact if you leveled up quickly among your piers. Also makes some good campaign story item .

It you visit it afterwards it gives you some good morale maybe.

Ash Mountain: (Adventure Map) A mountain that is part of the terrain. Not visitable or capturable. Spits out cover of darkness around it self is a period of 1 month, 1.5 month or 2 months. If not set the period is random. The places covered with this effect have fog of war returned. Gives a nice area where you don’t see the place all the time.

Initiative is a very very important issue!!!

I hope they will make a good system; A lot of imbalanced things happened in H5! I saw games where armies with low initiative acted 2 times or 3 during the battle or stack of zombies just once, I hope Unfrozen don t want that!

I am ok with splitting initiative with speed (although I don't prefer it), but Active Time Battle is too confusing to me. I want rounds to be clear. Everyone acts on a round.

You'll be happy about Olden Era's combat system then.

Hey thanks ,glad you like it.

Not a game changing feature but if heroes could collect "titles" as they do feats like capturing a castle, defeating a dragon, killing a lot of green Player heroes etc

Killing a dragon: "Dragon Slayer" Sandro

Casting more than 20 spells in a fight:  "Spell Force" Solmyr

Killing a lot of green players "Green Bane": Orin

Done more than 5 castle defenses: "Bulwark" Tzar

etc etc.

if a hero gets rehired by another faction after being defeated: Like he was red hero then was killed and rehired by green "Resurrected"

etc etc.If it was a bit sassy and ,insulting to the other players the better . Just nudging them in the right direction.

Also if a hero retreats a lot "coward"

Cast spells and runs without continuing the battle "honorless"

We are playing the game to have fun at the end
