You should watch Chinese H3 videos.. I don't bring links here, when you must wait for 80 seconds to open a video.. One Chinese video YouTube has found ingenious name showed 75 Strom Elementals vs 8 Sprites + Land Mine + Quicksand + Air Shield.. 75 Strom Elementals lost.. But found the deepest seabed on seeds, if it can useful against human.. And you need discipline becomes Chinese level.. Devil a snow.. I know Chinese.. He was here..

Sorry for necroing this thread. I watched the landmine video and really wonder: is it an example for or against the spell? A huge amount of mana is used. And without slow (and teleport) the whole fight wouldn't work at all.
Well, judging solely from the standpoint of what he does have at the begining of the battle, I would say the land mine stategy is probably the way to go here. Doing a quick math, using just the combination of slow and magic arrow or the basic lightning/ice bolt ain't enough here, despite 13 mines left unexploped in the end, the spell still outdamages the other methods of dealing damage. Perhaps the player was expecting way less gorgons, and managed to find a way to do a difficult fight.
However, that being said the fight is indeed a bit bizarre. Simply put, you really don't end up in situations like this. Good terrain, powerful but sluggish two-hex creatures, access to mass slow but pretty much nothing else, basically no army, advanded fire magic, pretty good mana pool and spell damage.
Well, I guess it's true, that the fight is a perfect solution in that special situation. But I haven't found such a situation in last decades.
