Zilonite. This dosnt make any sense to me and probably wont to you either, but i have found that using the border guard option never places tents with keys when i use windowws 98 but when i take the same template round to a friends house ( He uses windows xp ) Then i get tents every time. If this is for real then it means that if the host is using xp then your tent free template will generate tents instead of narrower gaps. Its crazy but i would like somebody else to test this and confirm either way.

I use W98, and when set a "x" in the row "boarder guard", in 90% their are tents and boarder guards, LOT of them!

I just installed xp on my comp, so i'll be able to check it out soon. But for so far i'm forced to agree with Midnight anti-border-guard policy

Dont use the border guard X... I will not play any templates that uses that. Also I will tell u "u suck" when I see u if u do that

2v2 template
Some time ago i heard the complains that almost all customed templates are only for 1on1 game. As Midnight still rocks on 1on1 template making and there is no chance for anyone to compete with him , I decided to try to make one really good template for allied games.
Myown testing so far encouraged to offer the template for wider public, so...
If anybody is interested to try it out (i believe in miracles ), i'm very willing to send it to u for getting some additional comments before posting on toh site.
Short description:
Sizes - only XL no under.
Approximate playtime : main battles in 4-5 (with major luck may be 3) weeks, scooting wars somewhere around week 3.
Basic idea : Mixture of closed and semiopen maps. Four kingdoms expand around the marshes. Shortcuts to other kingdoms are guarded pretty tough, yet some nasty pathways through the swamps still are possible.

easily explainable if you care splexx, extreme 2 has a massive start zone, could be a third of the map. In a third of a map you have the potential for half a dozen conserves at least, and if your opponent has tower then its game over before it started.
If you are gonna use castle, do the decent thing and make it castle vs. castle.

Some ppl do have a no conserve/hive rule. Andi use to play this way, and seen Vex do it sometimes too. i cant remove conserves from a map tho i can reduce them. but it is easy to remove castle town from the template (if random towns). the decision was driven by ease of implementation. If the no conserve rule was really common (it isnt) i would leave castle in E2.
What do ppl think? should i recommend certain templates to have a no conserve rule (roadrunner, E1, E2) and put castle back into the template? Do u think most players will use those rules?

Damn statistics and other lies
Just looked at barons and up rankings to see what templates r the most popular (if no template named, i didnt count it). Note that midnight mix will not appear, as it is not reported as such, but usually random M,L,XL etc. I sampled a few footman players who had a lot of games, and seemed pretty similar breakdown.
62% Blockbuster
11% Skirmish
6% Extreme
4% Reckless
3% Panic, Balance, True Random
2% Extreme 2, 2SM...
4% All other templates
Blockbuster continues to dominate by a huge margin.
Interesting that Skirmish is now #2, and Extreme dropping to #3. Was probably influenced by a few hardcore Extreme players who retired from H3 recently, and the broad appeal of skirmish for faster games.
Reckless has been around for ages but has suddenly got some popularity with a small group of players to get to #4 place.
Panic and Balance are your "no relic" templates that appeal to some players so come in at 3% each.
Extreme 2 didnt get the same popularity as original Extreme, but is still in circulation.
Only 3do template to be actively played is the block template 2SM...

I'm not sure if I asked this before or not, but would you prefer that I add a "midnight mix" selection to the automation? It's not a problem and might help your statistics.

And to top.
Wondering if one of rmg makers would like to 'upgrade' some of templates. Thing I would like is to make playing with water more enjoyable. Adding more stuff in it, make shipyard guards a bit weaker...

the guard size cant be changed unless u change them for all guards. Otherwise i would have increased the guard for conservatories by a factor of 10 a year ago. Thus the shipyard guards cant be changed.
