Actually, you don't have to. You can play as a Human, Kt'Kr or any of the races created by other players (except MightyMage's entry which is invalid). Still, every new race adds to the depth of the universe

Sure. But please note that only the soldiers have the nifty feats listed there. Will your character be a soldier or a worker (normal Kt'Kr)?
Also, I am uncertain about one bit of your last post. Who's got the burns, Jon or Geoff? At one point you say that Jon had the accident where he lost his arm and got the burns, while later you refer to Geoff's burns. This got me a bit confused.
(and yes, the technical problems have been fixed (partly - things should be back to normal today) and there will be regular updates again )

I don't completely agree with how Geoff would have responded. He is my character. Jon and Geoff are quite intelligent for humans especially Geoff and they are very good at bull-****ting. First of all Jon and Geoff can hear each other talk with microphones and earpieces.
Jon anticipates the Kt’Kr always sticking their nose in everything and walks over to a La-Ta and begins speaking to them as he see the Kt’Kr approach Geoff and the Roki.
Geoff: "Don't trust this bug. He's allied with the humans."
Jon: "See the Roki over there? He's spreading rumors about the La-Ta to the Roki tribe to gain political favor. Just thought you might want to know.”
The La-Ta man charges over to the trio and yells at the Kt’Kr man.[i/]
La-Ta: “So spreading rumors, huh you stupid bug?”
Kt’Kr: “WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?”

So if a brawl breaks out it will be me and the Kt'Kr vs the La-Ta and Geoff????? Lets. See. Roki is nothing but pure physical strength, and the Kt'Kr are a military giant.
