Quote: bobby,
i've tried many times to find a toh game in the ubisoft rated 1 room.
I've even labled my room with the suggested www.toheroes.com but to no avail.
hopefully we will hook up soon.
p.s. I like 15 min turns however
I saw you in there the other night but I think I already had a game lined up. Chances are good that if you don't see me in there it's because I'm already in a game. Pretty lame that you can't see who is in a game from the lobby. Tonight I'll be setting up a ToH only ID for hotmail and MSN messenger to join the growing contact movement. Now all we have to do is all decide what room we are going to start using and looking for each other in. I like Rated Room 5 since it separates us from the casual gamers and those who want nothing to do with tournaments. Once things start rolling people will see how busy it is and wander in and probably join ToH or leave if they see everyone there are tournament players.

Agreed. Gave up room 1 today after some 10 times explanations of what toh is and no game afterwards. Room 5 should be a good solution.
P.S. I start to understand TRUELY, how Bobby feels when there is no toh game for hours, lol...

i agree about room 5. ves says we should play in the normal room where everyone is or else the word about TOH will never get spread.. but there's also the possibility that if enough of us are in room 5, some of those people in the other room will be curious "Why are there people in that room?" and then they will come, and learn. then again maybe not

Then to keep it fair we should go to room 1 & if yall want a game then go to room 5.
MSN or trilogy whatever we can communicate with each other.
Moving to room 5 may cause too much confusion to the other players & then they will move there from room 1 & then there will be seperation.

There are reasons we want to move and anyone who has spent any time sitting in there waiting probably understands. It wouldn't be a big deal if you could open a room and still chat or whatever in the lobby. If you open a room with www.toheroes.com you just end up sitting there and basically have to take a nap or something. If you stay in the lobby you have to ask if there are any ToH players every now and again which gets annoying after the 50th time. Sometimes someone asks what ToH is but I have probably spent more time in there than anyone and so far have only gotten a couple people to join. Why? Well to be honest it's most likely cause there are only a few active ToH players since MP is crap for the moment and the folks that don't know about ToH don't see that it is as big as it is so they blow it off.
The idea is simply to make a room our own by all meeting there even if it is just to chat some like back in the Zone. This will hopefully keep the people who have no interest in tournaments or are just casual gamers over in Room 1 since they likely will have very little chance of finding a game in Room 5 if it is pretty much all ToH players. (Another thing I'm tired of is people who aren't ToH wanting to know why I don't want to play them and when told still keep bugging me. I miss muting.) Also you won't have to ask quite so much if those that come in are ToH.
Believe me once MP is fixed, the ToH players will come out of the woodwork and suddenly Room 5 will have a ton of players in it. When people see the numbers there they will poke their heads in and when they see all the ToH rooms be curious to visit the site and sign up and if not go back to the other rooms with the rest of the casual gamers and the "GO! GO! GO!" folks.
One final thought I've had as well... I'm not sure how the servers and channels are set up on UBI but I'm thinking it is quite possible there might be bandwidth issues and more lag and other troubles with everyone all in the same room. Heck that could be part of our sync problem. Certainly would explain why I was able to play those first few games when less people were in there and can't seem to now. When things get fixed it could be a really good thing to have our own channel so it's better to establish Room 5 now in the beginning than later after everyone is used to always going elsewhere.

Very well put Bobby and well thought out... I can sense your frustration, and the goal of not wanting to turn people off about playing in ToH, when right now there is no real support to back up why ToH is the superior place to play.
Since by reading the patch details and noticing not many MP issues were addressed tells me two things
1) they are trying to get it right in another very "large" patch. or they may do smaller incremental patches not sure which is going to be made first.
2) they want to make the map editor the "prime" product since they have an understanding that its what drove H3's life for so many years beyond a 'typical games life'... they are taking lessons from Bioware in this department and how they still put patches out on 7 year old games. when was the last official H3 patch hummm anyone guess off the top of their head? prolly not.

for a true strategy and tactics affacianado bad graphics are not nearly enough to write off the game...surely you must have more than that pollo.

H5 appeal?
i support UBI by having purchased H4 and H5. I think H5 is a fine game. I mean, WOW i can Zoom-in on my horse for a close-up. Would'nt it be great if you could zoom-in on the Bishops face in a chess proram. I could spend all day doing that, it's so much fun. I love the simple easy to visualize adventure map of H3. I can see much at a glance, and it is pleasing to my eyes. I spend my time planning studying and moving. I dont think those camera graphics have any real value in a true strategy game. I played the game and it seemed to be very slow play, and I became quickly discontent. I can see the value of certain features, such as skill development hierarchy. I would suggest to UBI that they take a winner - H3 and put some money into refining it, taking it much more slowly. I may try H5 in the future if the H3 community TOTALLY dries up.)))) I doubt that it will.
I appreciate TOH, and I miss that part, but it is great fun to play for just"fun". I hope a site will return that recognizes the lasting value of this wonderful game (H3), and believe it will be supported long after H5 is dust. Imho

I agree with Bossbo here. I just don't understand why it is so difficult to just come up with some new features, etc... without ruining the gameplay and revamping an almost already perfect game.

Hey Vesuvius.. have you given any more thought of actually TAKING OVER heroes? I mean, the only reason we have hm4 and hm5 is because of your site and the popularity you brought to hm3... Think about it, you could constantly update the game and do whatever you wanted.....

Taking over heroes? lol I can't afford buying an entire franchise ... it costs $20+ million -- and UBI owns it anyways.

thats a big number... what about learning C++ and just programing our own game and then selling it to them... that could be somewhat profitable, although very time consuming which you probably dont have much of.. just an idea
